Hi all,

again I'm at a loss about what I should do,

i need to get some speakers for my man cave I don't have a clue when it comes to AVs and Speakers so I would rather get a speaker package I'm not hardcore about it just want something that works and does the job I want it to do.

what I need it for is my LG C1 tv connected is a ps5 and Xbox series x I play game a lot and watch a lot of tv and movies.

i have around £2000 to spend (would rather not) first thing is I would like to have white speakers because stuff I have is white units computer desk etc. on that note there isn't much white speakers about. so black would be ok also as a second choice.

what i have been looking at is

Denon AVC-X4700H 9.2 Channel AV Receiver, Black - with Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1 Speaker Package, White and I can add some ATMOS later

or

Denon AVC-X4700H 9.2 Channel AV Receiver, Black - with Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1.2 Speaker Package, Black.

I can also get a package deal -- Denon AVC-X4700H AV Receiver & Diamond 5.1.4 Speaker Package, Black for the same price as the one above which comes with 4 atmos. it know prop not needed :D

what are peoples input and thoughts please remember I'm not a rich man I can just about afford £2000 which I have saved for a long time but i have wanted a decent av speaker system for a long time and the one i have is like 8 years old and only a blu ray player.

thank you.

Not a bad starter system only weak point is the sub I had same one it was ok for smaller room.

Imo white speakers stand out in home cinema use they are distracting especially for lcr.

I've owned the smaller 9.0 nice sound and for the £50 price a bargain.

which speaker package are you talking about the 5.1.2 or the 5.1.4 ? the room is small so a small sub would be fine i tend to turn the sub down.

X3800 all the way. X4700 is old tech, only 1x 120Hz 4k input Vs 6 on the X3800.

X3800 can also drive 11 speakers, 4 of which can be heights plus subwoofers.

Depends if you need 120hz. It's just gaming features

3800 has Dirac but that'll cost extra.

Checkout q acoustic speakers 3020i. Not the matching sub though as not great.

I've seen monoprice 5 speakers for £800 on auction site that'll be better than the wharfedale

Both the Xbox and PS5 support 120Hz, AV hardware is usually owned for years so any updated console also likely to be 120Hz.

And if you have no interest in console gaming? I don't have either of those consoles and my AV pre is hdmi

Hdmi 2.0 is sufficient for movies
Yeah he does fine go for 800 range.

Although you could go from console to TV the TV to avr using arc but you could lose sound codec plus if e-arc is buggy you're stuck

So yeah go for 800 range

ok ill go with the X3800 as it seems to make sense, I would like a speaker package as I I'm not hardcore enough and I don't want to pick one speaker then pick another and so on a package speaker as a starter would be fine for me please

Guessing you're looking av.com by the some of the bundles you've listed, I was initially tempted to suggest the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1.2 Speaker Package, Black at £625 rather than the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1.4 Speaker Package, Black at £749 - the £125 difference adds 2 more Atmos height speakers which could be added for £140 yourself later and to pair that package with your choice of receiver - such as the X3800 at £1,200 from Richer Sounds as suggested above. You'd be at a total of £1,825 for an X3800 with 5.1.2 or £1,950 for X3800 with 5.1.4.

Then I looked at the X4700 with 5.1.4 AV Bundle you mentioned and noticed it's £1,899, which sits right in the middle.

It does seem a decently priced bundle and there's not much in the way of deals being offered including the X3800 by the look of it.

Does the X3800 feel like it's worth an extra £50 over the X4700 is the question?

Check the number of amplifier channels, ie if you want 7.1.4 you probably need to step up a couple of models if you don't want additional power amplifiers

Small room mate i don't want to over do it on speakers I'm thinking 5.1.2 would be enough, if i need some at a later date i could add to more.
if your job is to confuse me its working :P i just want a AV with speakers that does what i need it to do ie my LG C1 for movies and Tv shows xbox series x and PS5 for gaming

That monoprice will be perfect, it's this system he was only asking £800 for the five speakers
