Custom Avatars will probably never happen again.

I vaguely remember it before and they looked damned ugly and detracted from the look and feel of the boards (same with sigs before the rules were first introduced).

it's been suggested on several occasions. I think another high postcount avatar would be nice, maybe for >5000 since there are loads of members with >1000 posts. We will see, depends what the boss thinks

Id rather the sigs be as they are, some places, like xs, look really messy and are damn hard to read

I like the ganster theme, and custom animated ones just start to look really naff with 10 on a page at a time.

I think a few more tasteful gangsters would go down a treat.

I also like the sig rule. I'm sick of having to wade through pages and pages of sigs just with a few lines text for each post inbetween

An avatar for a larger number of posts (maybe 5k plus as suggested?) would be nice though

Posts aren't points. No-one has any extra rank, even the Dons cant flaunt the rules and can be judged on their opinions alone rather than 'rank'...

Beyond say 15,000, users are allowed to have their custom avatar. To be fair, not many trollers/spammers make it past 15K without being banned.

Except then they don't show anything but the fact that you registered on a certain date. We already have a joined date...

My problem with the avatars is that I think they are pointless. They don't tell me anything. This is the avatar I use on other forums:

Looks tidy enough. I'd rather see personal avatars than James Gandolfini's mug, any day.

Could you not implement avatar rules similar to the sig rules? specific size, no animations etc? I think it could be quite cool. Nothing offensive either, I find it difficult to look at ocuk with my o/h looking over my shoulder when someone has a sig of a huge set of norks.
