Created. With request to remain 'spoiler tagged' for three weeks just in case someone blunders in from new Posts or something.
Ok sounds good. I've updated the thread titles and posted a massive warning in the spoiler thread, so whilst it is your thread the rules do say that it's fair game in the spoiler thread.

Here we go.

Google Now turned off.
YouTube and Facebook being boycotted.

Here's hoping I can make it to Saturday without having the film ruined...

It's a completely different kind of movie and I personally have enjoyed a few of the MCU movies more than The Godfather. It's all opinion and people will rate it as such.

They are all so samey though. I have enjoyed some of them at the time, but I can't remember what happened in which film. They all blur into each other. Same old same old with every film.

That said, I'll probably watch it at some point.

But scores in the 9's should be reserved for all time classics. Not superhero films.

MCU is that Good, all movies are between 8-10/10 IMO

LOL...Ant Man, Dr Strange, Iron Man 2/3, Dark World, Ragnarok, First Avenger and Civil War aren't even above a 6, let alone up at the 8 out of 10 level.

EDIT: IMO, the only movies that are in the 8/9 out of 10 level are Iron Man, Winter Soldier and GOTG...the first two avengers just about scrape maybe a 7/7.5.

I don't think I'd give any of the marvel / X-Men / superhero films much over a 6/10 to be honest.

Some of them are mildly entertaining, but hardly great films.

The newer ones seem to try to cram too much banter / jokes in which just feels forced and gets tiresome.

I just feel this type of film has run its course now.

The first Avengers is still my favourite by far. The fact they managed to pull of something never before achieved with such style and finesse is astounding to me. They hedged EVERYTHING on the success of that movie and, imo, it's the most tightly scripted, performed and paced movie in the MCU.

That's a personal opinion though. Very few movies I have enjoyed as much as some of the Marvel films. Plus Thor Ragnarok is nothing like Captain America: The Winter Soldier which again is nothing like Iron Man 2.

Just because they involve superheroes doesn't mean they are samey.

The scale of the story being told here doesn't excite you? By the end of Phase 3, Marvel will have made 22 films, all culminating in the events of Infinity War, Ant Man & The Wasp, Captain Marvel, and Avengers 4. It's the grandest project ever attempted in cinema, featuring the stories of countless characters and the threads that bind them together.

It's easy to be flippant about "Superheroes"; they're "for kids". But if you love movies, how could you not love the audacity of what Marvel has achieved? This is a unique project in cinema that likely won't ever be rivalled.

Of course it is all down to personal opinion, I'm just giving mine :)

I'm sure this latest film will be entertaining enough, but 9.2 on IMDb?? That's just silly.

It's like all the hype for last Jedi when it came out. It's settled down to a 7.3 now. And that's still an inflated score for it.
