AvP MP demo is live

Yes.

Also anyone with a high end Soundcard will likely see the game crash to desktop with no error.

This is because the game works at 48 or 44100KHz so if you have an XFi or Xonar you're most likely working in 24bit/96KHz - you must set the Windows Sound output properties for your speakers to the lower 48 or 44100Hz:

I found there was mouse lag even with Vsync disabled, clicking "fire" and the fire action happening had a split second delay as did the normal look movement which makes navigating the Alien quite hard indeed.

I'm trying to d/l this demo from steam but after a few seconds of the activity disc rotating on the steam page, nothing happens:confused:

edit: restarted steam and all is ok.

was not really expecting much from this game, glad i did not pre-order, i think the demo is shockingly bad.

Ohhhh no, i was looking forward to this. Hopefully the full release will be better once they see how poorly the demo is doing. I'm going to take a risk on this one and keep my pre-order, just hope the released version is better after all £17.99 is hardly breaking the bank. Also if the demo is just a console port then maybe that could be the cause. I'm just speculating now, would be nice to hear some words from the developers, surely it would be in their interest to say what's happening as their game is getting slated left, right and centre at the moment.

So you're having trouble with your soundcard then mrk? Glad i haven't bought one yet then, my soundcard purchasing plan got put on hold by valentines day  women ey! Is this an isolated incident or is everyone with high end sound cards having issues?

jsut got a game....its actually not bad pretty fast paced and the pulse rifle sounds awesome up loud, i am getting no lag at all :)

Oh right so somebody else who seems to be ok, how are you finding the game graphically? Also are you finding it very one sided (ie are the aliens the stronger faction?)

anybody fancy doing a mini review for me? as i can't play it where i'm at work :(, i really hope this game turns out ok, it was my most anticipated game for this year along with the new supreme commander. It would be a shame if this turned out to be complete carp.

i have to tile my bathroom today lol, but will have a go later on

Graphically i have everything cranked up high. runs smooth as you like. atmospherics in the arena's are good with mist etc in the alien bits

wouldnt say its one sided, if you are a marine you just need to have your wits about you and keep a good stock of grenades ;). its anyones game at mid range combat, obviously the aliens are no good unless they are up close and personal so they do tear you to shreds if you dont get them early (as per the films tbh)

It's not a soundcard problem, it's the way they've implemented sound in teh game, it's only an issue if you have set your sound options to a high quality rate instead of the standard rates. The game only works up to 48000Hz whereas all other games are limitless.

Lots of people on STEAM forums have the same problem, XFI, etc.

It just means using 48KHz for the game and not using 96KHz.

ahhhhh! my apologies, i completely misread your post, i can understand the annoyance this might cause, having to change your settings down to 48khz every time you want to play it. It would drive me mad after a while, hopefully they'll sort this for release or patch it. However the major lag issues seem to be varied from person to person so i'm going to put it down to lack of servers for now. The game doesn't seem all bad judging by the mixed responses, just teething problems which seems to be a common thing on newly released games nowadays. Like i said i'll reserve my judgement for when i get hold of it at release. Anyway's i must get off this forum as i'm getting very jealous now.

I'd agree with that. Went into the demo expecting it to be dire after reading some of the comments, but it seems ok. They should have included a few more modes I think, as it's fairly pointless picking a marine in straight deathmatch, as you just get ripped to shreds.

So, if you haven't downloaded it, do so and make your own mind up.

Downloaded , errrr wish I hadn't bothered.

And why is everything these days multiplayer, doesn't do any new game justice IMO.

just played it and i dont know what to make of it.

The Predators VIEW is just screwed. even in normal view everything seems so zoomed in. i cant remember what the terms called but it needs ajusting so everything doesnt seem so close all the time like his hands.
