Very dull race.

Pretty standard for 2022 so far.

Got many hits on my 2022 bingo:

Bouncy bouncy
A Red Bull or Ferrari engine (or two) blow up
Hamilton gets **** by a pit stop and stuck behind Gasly/Ocon
Russell finishes in the top 5

The script writers are getting lazy.

I think we know why it's being made such a big deal of here. Need to get that #1 Mercedes winning again, right?
If it was just a Haas, or Williams having problems as bad as the Mercedes this wouldn't be a hot ticket issue.

Mercedes will just need to be slower until they get a handle on it. Clearly, whilst it is an issue, it's nowhere near as bad for other teams.

They need to raise the ride height, simple enough fix. They are effectively showing better than their real pace, hiding it by over aggressive setup.

Fast forwarded most of the race, I dunno, something about this season just hasnt caught me. Im sure the overtaking is no better even with these new cars.

I think the problem is partly due to us being spoilt last season. I think its bubbling along nicely, once a team starts getting a bit desperate more risks will be taken ..

Hopefully Mercedes will get their act together then we'll have Leclerc, Max, Perez, Russell and Lewis fighting for wins, that's a mouth watering prospect

Bubbling nicely along? Is that you Crofty? GTFO ;)

I support Lewis and dislike Horner a fair bit. However, I agree with him on this issue. If Red Bull have found a way to make the fastest car on the grid and eliminate most of the porpoising/not injure their drivers, then it is on the other teams to work that out.

I dont think the teams that have it worked out should be penalised due to the poor design work of the other teams.

So there's a post qualifying video of Hamilton being interviewed where he says, 'All of the performance is when you get the car low, we say ok, let's take a beating in our backs and our necks and just get the car as low as possible to gain performance. I go a bit lower and it's bouncing a little bit more than the other car'

So this is clearly a setup choice by both Hamilton and Mercedes, confirmed by themselves that they are pushing the limits to chase performance regardless of bouncing.

There was also some great post race analysis from Karun Chandhok where he compares the side by side of the RB vs Merc going through high speed corners and you can clearly see the RB is much higher and the Merc as low to the ground as possible.

Merc have designed a car that doesn't favour these new rules but it seems it's on them for pushing the bouncing to the extent they're seeing.

Yep. In all honesty, the teams that have designed a car that can only go fast when it destroys the back of the driver, need to go back to the drawing board and try and work out how Red Bull do it.

Except now they can't due to budget caps and reduced wind tunnel time.

Race was better than Monaco, but damn Lewis's car that was some bouncing comparable to a beat up banger on rocks. I think Lewis was going for another championship this year but seeing how sub-par the car is and the ongoing injuries i can see him retiring early.

So Leclerc, Max, Perez, Hamilton and Russell all fighting for wins isn't an exciting prospect?

Fingers crossed this happens soon.

He also said the bouncing is costing them a second around this track, its clearly not as simplistic as people are making it out to be.

The Ferrari DNF robbed us of what was shaping up to be a decent GP. Once Leclerc was gone it was a race of watching the back markers trade positions.

After a shaky start, Red Bull are looking like strong contenders this season. Ferrari are their only real contenders and they appear to be imploding. I wonder if the heavy porpoising they're still suffering is causing some of their reliability issues. Can't imagine a finely balanced turbo shaft appreciating that level of intense vibration for an entire race.

Except now they can't due to budget caps and reduced wind tunnel time.

Each team and drivers are in control of their car. Sure they may have to drive slower and not be competitive but that's their choice.

As a compromise maybe each team should be given extra few hrs of wind tunnel and simulator time.

Regarding porpoising - some of the teams are rumoured to be using 'skates'. Is that legal? Having a part of the car touching the ground, that's not the barge board?
