Its workable with the current regulations as red bull seem to have a pretty acceptable ride and with top performance.

After seeing the underside of redbull Vs Ferrari after the Monaco qualy crash. The redbull is just more developed.

Like i said above, they just seem to have been "luckier" than others in that the natural frequency of the chassis does not coincide with the frequency of the suspension loading unloading as the floor stalls.

"luckier" might be luck, or more likely the greater knowledge and experience of Newey from his years in sports cars and other formulae with ground effect in the past.

Just when I think the worst take possible has been posted on here someone comes up with one that's even more wretched...

Well, heaven forbid that F1 cars should be tricky to drive!
Christ on a bike, red bull had just caught up, maclaren were nearly there, Ferrari would have been close with this years engine.
Heaven forbid we have cars scraping along the track, I hate to think what they sound like close up.
They're like those ugly ducklings with the stupid noses.
Anyway, like I say the RB is the only one that looks like a race car, so it can be done. But Ferrari are fast and look shocking.
The RB rear wing is a joke though, should have had the black and orange for that.

For what? If the stewards are happy it meets the rules and it clearly poses no risk to them or cars, why should they be flagged? If anything it hurts their performance when it's fluttering like that.

Just because it doesn't look nice, or is strange is not a valid reason.

Parts in practice don't have to meet the rules. I don't think the flapping was so severe it suggests imminent failure but I don't think it'll be race legal.

Wrong, all parts used on the cars at any stage of the weekend have to fully meet the rules.

The stewards can call any car in at any moment and ask to fully strip the car to prove any or all parts meet regulations.

They'll come up with a way to shaft him if he gets too close to beating the golden boy for the title.

Expect a few bad tyre strategies.
Yeah you're not wrong, sadly.

He's been on it this weekend though. I know it's only the practice sessions but he's been on fire.

There's a lot I dislike about Red Bull but I am so glad they gave him a chance last year. It is still bonkers to me that he was on his way out of F1

He been better than Verstappen in the last two races too. Stayed on the black stuff in Barcelona and was quicker all weekend in Monaco.

It might be the same this weekend but we've not had a meaningful session yet to be fair. Remember what should have been Verstappen's quickest lap was spoiled by traffic.

There must come a point where Merc abandon this car and make a different/B spec version.

The gap to Fer and RB isn't getting any better, and if anything they are falling further into the midfield.

The car is clearly causing both their drivers a massive amount of discomfort and possibly even injury.

At some point, they might have to admit that what they have created is a failed concept.

Same with the weight limit increase. Alfa Romeo will have suffered more than others since they were able to meet the minimum weight limit whilst others were over. The limit then got increased by 3kg I think.
A bit different in that that's not a direct safety issue. They should have just told the teams above the limit to do one. It is a minimum weight limit after all, not an obligation.
