B-Grade 7800GT - GTX Owners thread :D

Well mine doesnt look like its turning up today :(

Wouldnt mind but the City Link Depot is 15 miles away, wheras Royal Mail is 1/2 a mile!

My last order came by Royal Mail, wonder what makes the difference for them to choose City Link? Both were Gfx cards and around the same value.

Got to work all the rest of this week, so no doubt it will be a frantic drive there during lunch  :o

My tracking number doesn't mean anything to City Links website, so just gave the shop a call and they said the Saturday dispatches were being picked up today, so will definately be here tomorrow.

Aye - mine dont show up either.

What a <insert rude word here> - i'm at work tomorrow and wednesday. So much for 'next day' delivery then.

Why pay a premium if you don't get the service stated? - the postage prices are too high if you don't get next day - i dont even want next day, but have to pay for it as there isnt a choice :(

Yep thats very true, theres another etailor who ships for around half the price and you can choose what day it comes on. That uses City Link too I think.

Anyone ever called City Link to ask if they can deliver after a certain time or leave it with some one else?

I think ocuk use citylink to make a profit on all of us :/

No way the parcel they sent me cost them £8 to deliver, I could do it via royal mail special delivery for under a fiver.
OcUK probably have some deal going on with citylink for cheap delivery, I cant see why else they would use them.

Yes - they can leave with neighbours.

The girl on the phone didnt seem keen to arrange specifics, but indicated that the driver generally would try (that was last time i got something through them).

And, yes, they did leave across the street.

Yep, considering I sent my x800GTo Special Delivery guaranteed next day last week for £5 its a bit of a PITA, its why I dont shop on here that much, as much as i would like to, for anything under £50 its not worth the 20% overall cost of delivery to add on to it.

For instance, I wouldnt buy a tub of DvD-R's as it costs more to post it, thats even the 50 tubs. Have to go to the local shop and buy lower quality stuff (along with having to listen to their incompetence at the same time).

I appreciate its not all about the cost of delivery, there is the packaging etc as well but bubble wrap and boxes are cheap enough, more so if you buy in bulk.

Thanks, now I remember a few months ago I got a big delivery and they left it with the neighbours, so hopefully the guy will have the same common sense, although I have met him so my chances are 50/50 :D :p

I suspect it evens out, heavy goods to light ones. Now i think about it, my order has a case that would probably cost £10 via any other postal firm...

Still not the point tho - i paid for next day, and expect to get it Saturday order or not. Saturday is an ordinary trading day for retail (has been since i started working in retail and that was 15 years ago) and it shouldnt affect stated delivery times.

Well, a lot of other places base the delivery price on weight also, which would be a fairer way of doing things. A monitor doesnt cost the same as a few cables to deliver.

How about it one of those Don or Commissario type people???

Can we have some more selectable delivery options please?

Gotta be good for custom...

M

If they're unwilling to do this, how about every so often having free p&p on all items (there's quite a few small things I'd like to buy that just aren't worth it cos the postage adds half the cost on again), and/or every week having free delivery on the 'this week only' items - this would also have the added bonus of giving people that extra discount on special offer items, which often people complain about as not being reduced enough.

The courier only collects parcels Monday - Friday.

I've had it before with other e-tailers using City Link where I've ordered Friday, they've processed and packaged my order on the Saturday but it's been sat in the warehouse until Monday when CityLink arrive. I'm sure OcUK would send out parcels on Saturday if they could.

Yes - excuse me if my previous posts seem to be gunning for OCUK in some way - they aren't. I'm not happy with it overall.

If it is due to CityLink, then they should come out of 'The Ark Age' and get up to speed with modern day service industry - they are after all a service provider. If they cant provide a service that customers want, then maybe OCUK should strike a deal with a firm who can.

Delivery firms are also archaic in charging extra for Saturday deliveries - they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it any longer...

I call for a petition... or a war.. or something... lol

*rant over*

Staffing supply/delivery depots on a Saturday adds more to companies insurance premiums, greater cost's added to wage bills. Then you have the added infrastructure of getting parcels between depot's.
I used to work for a courier company [ANC] and know how it works together with a fair idea of the costs involved.

I do however agree that the use of City Link as the only option is both unfair and a negative against a otherwise excellent company ie OcUK
