Staffing supply/delivery depots on a Saturday adds more to companies insurance premiums, greater cost's added to wage bills. Then you have the added infrastructure of getting parcels between depot's.
I used to work for a courier company [ANC] and know how it works together with a fair idea of the costs involved.

True...

Same was true of retail when it made the move to weekend openings (and fuller hours on weekend openings). Increase in trade is the business argument - these firms are just comfy in how they are doing trade right now. No-one likes to work weekends (well, i'm sure someone does... :p ).

It might even out, but why not be fair? I've been dieing to buy a vf900 for a while but with the delivery its pointless, charge appropriate delivery for the item weight etc, if you buy a case your expecting to pay high delivery, fi you buy your whole system your not going to be arsed it costs 30 to ship, if you buy a fdd your gunna be suspect of a £8 delivery charge.

If other companies can manage it, why cant ocuk? Ocuk is a lot more suscessfull than most of these companies by a fair margin also.

I work for a large multi channel retailer, and shipping heavy orders does not cost near £8.00 :-P

I guess the argument generally is that it outweighs orders which are substantially heavy and many boxes in size, however of course companies make "profits" on deliveries :-)

Don't see much wrong with that as companies have to pay people to pack orders, to upload data files to couriers containing each consignment number's details, load pallets etc. So I guess these initial "profits" more or less cover these costs...

It said ocuk 7800gtx, but it clearly isnt because it has DELL on the heatsink and i'm getting a bit worried it doesnt have the black heatsink at the back, as those things get bloody hot i burnt my finger touching them.

Well, my 6800 turned up today, at first I thought it was the wrong package as it was HUGE, but I was wrong, I've never seen a graphics card box that big lol. Also got my X850XT which is thankfully working, still need to test the 6800 but will do that tonight.

Glad the City Link guy left it with the neighbour, didnt want to go driving cross the country to pick it up.

BTW my 6800 looks BRAND NEW (but it was from Clearance), thanks OcUK, cracking deal :)

clearance is brand new, they just dont want it anymore, b-grade is used or missing parts.

I'm getting very worried now mines not got the heatsink at the back, emailed gibbo like, i will still use this card, if it burns up hopefully it does it within 2 weeks so i can get my money back.

Well, it was a bit hectic last week, here was my week:

Sold new PowerColor x800GTO
Bought 9800 Pro for a friend
Bought X850XT with Zalman cooler from MM for £95

Saw deals on OcUK and bought the clearance MSI 6800 (AGP) which I may keep or sell to my friend who bought the 9800 Pro depending on how he likes the 9800 Pro.

I was looking at the X850XT PE on Clearance but got a much better deall on MM :D

If they had all come yesterday I would have had:

9500 Pro (current card for 3 years  )
9800 Pro
6800
X850XT

Crazy eh, had 1 card for 3 years then 4 in the space of 1 month!

BTW I was being a bit thick on the clearance stuff, thought for some reason I had bought B Grade, but it wasnt.

Still, for £52 before postage it was too good to miss.

Was going to get the 7800GT but the deals had allready gone through on the other cards.
