im happy to take that card off ya if you dont want it :D been searching for an GTX with that big cooler for ages :(

Well I had a word with Gibbo, quality guy btw :D
I'm going to send back this Dell 7800gtx because of lack of backplate, and its being replaced by a X1800xt for a extra tenner, I cant argue with that can I? Cheers Gibbo.
Will tell you all how things are once the x1800xt arrives.

well my GTX has turned up, its a full retail MSI 7800GTX ViVo, comes with full copy of GT Legends too :)

will have a play later and see what it clocks like

Same :). Shame I can't use mine :( , gotta decided on my new cpu and pci-e board first :(.

Card was in some white sponge/foam thing inside the box , is this normal for new cards?, all my others came in anti-static bags but they were all bought couple years ago.

GT legends had come unclipped from it's case and is a bit marked , but not my sort of game and it's starforce anyway so don't matter :).

I will be keeping an eye out for a Bgrade 7800GTX then ;)

I dont really want to get rid of it, the difference between a 7800gtx and x1800xt is soo minimal and I really like this card :/, trying to find a back heatsink for it asap, any suggestions anyone before OCUK give me the RMA number?

This cooler is absolutly quality btw, silent and never goes above 64C load.
39-44 idle.

Nonono, I love the normal heatsink, but it has the MOSFET cooler at the back missing, if I fit Zalman VGA ram heatsinks on them do you reckon that will be good enough?

I got sent the 7800gt instead of gtx,is it worth hanging onto over a sapphire 1800xt?.Want to play oblivion reasonably well.Choice means going with different mobos by the looks, advice appreciated

I should imagine so. Are you having any troubles without it now? I wouldn't be worried about the Dell label. OcUK value lines are simply cards bought cheap from other manufacturers and sold under the OcUK name.

No problems at the moment with no heatsinks on the mosfets, I will try and get some zalman vga ram heatsinks off ocuk, if not i'll just buy the x1800xt, buy zalman mosfets and sell it, or send it back to ocuk.

Got my clearance 7800GT from OCUK this evening, and just installed.

It's an XFX Extreme LED version, and was brand new!

It seems to suffer from the 100% fan speed issue though, but I'm putting my Zalman VF700 on when I get 30 minutes, so that'll sort that out. For £93, I'm not complaining!

My first 3dMark06 score is 3871, and that's on a Asus P5VD1-X motherboard with only a 4x PCIE slot. Doesn't seem to make much difference to the performance looking at some other scores on the ORB.

A bit of OC'ing soon I reckon! :)

Hmm doesnt seem to have made any difference, then again running the top agp cards on 4X didnt make a difference, it still doesnt use all the bandwidth.
I think the fans meant to run at 100% on some of these, on my 7800gtx its on 100% and completly silent.

Silent eh? Wish I was so lucky. ;)

I'm using RivaTuner to control the fans as the card's installed in my shuttle, and the fan at 80% or above is about as noisy as the 6800gs it replaced. Not that I'm complaining - it's inaudible in 2D mode. Try saying that about the 6800 :p

Ahh, the 6800 cards have bad fans mine used to run at 40% and they were still audible, even at 25% they were audible, I was lucky to get the cooler I did as at 100% it still turns slowly but its a large fan, the heatsink is a really nice design aswell.
Shame i'm getting rid of it because of no mosfet heatsink, will put some zalmans on the mosfets though.

Right well I've got a x1800xt coming at a discounted price, I bought some Zalman rma vga heatsinks and when they arrive i'm going to stick them on the 7800gtx, going to check its stable and sell it on.

I fitted my £79 7800GT last night :)

I thought it was going to be a total pain, as I also needed to upgrade my s754 motherboard to PCI-e, but suprisingly swapping an old Nforce3 AGP for an Nforce4 PCI-e only needed a couple of extra drivers installed, and everything worked fine without a re-install of the OS. Makes a change things going smoothly. Even my mirrored disks worked fine, which was great.

so.. now that people have had a time to play, what have yer managed to clock urs too?

Haven't done much to mine, just got a copy of BF2 so been playing that instead of benchmarking etc :D

set the card to 450/1300 when I 1st got it tho and seems happy with that atm, hits 70c odd in games.

amtrak > rmsd > me on a bike > me on foot > city link
You guys don't know what you're talking about: a lot of people here had HUGE problems with Amtrak back when OcUK were using them. I've had two large deliveries botched up by them (and both times I was lied to with the old "we couldn't find the address" excuse when I live on a main road). On the first occasion they didn't deliver for three consecutive days on which they said they would, and threatened me on the phone that they would send their drivers round when I expressed dismay at their increasingly more and more ridiculous excuses (not that their threat scared me as they probably wouldn't be able to find the place) and in the end I had to go pick it up myself from their depot; on the other they held my goods for 9 days without notifying either me or the sender that they couldn't deliver (even though they had my mobile number and lied that they tried to call me, unaware that Orange send me missed call notification texts whenever someone tries to call me when my phone's off).
Admittedly a lot of the Amtrak problems were being reported by the same people so maybe it was particular depots that were being staffed by apes. CityLink, however, I've been using for years when ordering from other etailers and I've never had a problem, and I think the fact that even OcUK switched to them testifies that, overall, they're much more reliable.
One thing I should note, though, is that OcUK's delivery charges are slightly higher than those of other etailer's using CityLink, especially for small orders.
