Back4Blood

There's virtually no suspense and even the appearance of the big ogre thing wasn't all that interesting, just unload a few clips and he's done.

I think a lot of people are remembering L4D with Rose tinted glasses.... what do you think happened in L4D when a tank showed up? Run backwards shooting until he's dead.

Yeah this game isn't perfect but seems decent to me so far. Biggest gripe for me so far is weapon sounds, they just lack impact? Price does seem a little steep but have they announced how much campaigns the finish game will feature yet?

I wasn't even comparing to L4D, just stating my thoughts on the game. It feels dull and lifeless to me whatever your opinion on L4D is.

I guess I just expected more when a 'boss' like that appears with a big screen wide health bar, maybe similar bosses in other campaigns will have more interest - I'm thinking along the lines of needing use grenades to knock off armour and then shoot, that sort of thing, not just a bigger version of everything else that simply takes ten times as many shots to kill off.

Played a few PVE rounds and it's not a bad game. It's not good, but ok. I did end up just feeling like I'd rather be playing WWZ the entire time though. At least that's my opinion.

I've played it for a couple of hours, Its not bad but defiantly feels like a game that would become repetitive VERY quickly and loose interest.
I certainly wouldn't pay £49.99 for it, Its a £15 game max!

I've played an hour or so and it's grown on me.

Looks nice enough and cards etc add a bit of depth. Bots are horrendous though - L4D2 bots were usually OK, you'd expect years later for the bots to be massively improved but no, seems they've taken a backwards step.

The idea of paying £90 for the ultimate deluxe razzmatazz edition is a joke though, unless there's a SHEDLOAD more content, this'll go the way of Evolve.

I played a few games. Seemed fun. Maps seem a bit longer generally, but special infected seem worse. However, still has the problem of people just quitting all the time. So uninstalled. Shame

Just had a quick go on Verses mode. Wtf is that?! I really hope the finished game has a proper VS mode like L4D and that's just a little sandbox to get feedback on how the Infected handle otherwise this game will be dead in no time...

Agreed, versus is the biggest disappointment for me too. The other problem I think is that the designs of the specials just aren't distinct enough... In L4D you had very clear and recognisable specials - big fat guy, tall lanky woman, tiny little hobgoblin, gangly limping dude, bulky lopsided boy and of course jumpy hooded man. You learnt what each one did pretty quickly and each one was potentially a serious threat. In B4B I think there are a similar number of specials but they all seem to occupy the same couple of sizes and their abilities all seem pretty similar. I kind of like the "weak point" idea as it could require some positioning tactics to dispatch them efficiently but so far they tend to just get mown down along with the rest of the commons

Having loved playing L4d2 and played hundreds of hours especially in the dedicated servers my view on the beta was quite impressive, bearing in mind that most developers do not give out a complete 1 act within an Beta normally you just get 1 map. Graphically very impressive there was some things they could improve on (water reflections / mirror reflections) they looked blocky on the reflections but that could just be limitations of the beta. Some weapons felt underwhelming for example the m16 (burst fire really!). I loved the idea of being able to upgrade the weapon for coins but my complaint with other friends is that crates within the map is first come first serve (people don't even look if they need to upgrade the weapons and just take the upgrades). so i did ask if they can make it so attachable can be dropped really quite pointless having a full scope on a Ump where someone who has a carbine/sniper needs it.

I love the new specials and you have to think tactically so it really encourages team play and thinking about the next area, however i think the pet peeve is after 3 fails you have to start the whole act again until you reach the checkpoint. especially if the corruption cards are really bad in Nightmare they really punish you, the original L4D2 if you failed the mission you would restart back at the safe house so i think they missed the plot on this one if you are trying out the nightmare mode. The cards itself looked good on the tin until you try harder difficulty 1 CARD for nightmare at the beginning on act 1 but 3/4 corruption cards that is not balanced, with 250 coins so you are limited to not buying any upgrades just about buy health and pipebomb.

Bugs, my friends experienced some CTD and ADS (Aim Down Sight) bug where you couldn't aim so had to restart the server, some NPC lagging out or weapons freezing in mid air. but that was more funny than anything.

If they can fix the balancing of the game and weapons, and graphical issues it could be really good game. However i do wonder how many acts there are because if it's quite small acts then this could affect replay ability.

L4D was a huge part of my favourite gaming "era". Co-op seems to be making a comeback though so even if B4B doesn't scratch that itch, there are other "contenders" on the way (even if they're not following the L4D formula per sé).

Io how’s this looking?

I miss the l4d days

It's ok and does scracth a Left 4 Dead itch but I fear it will have a very short life span for a few reasons.

- PVP is not campaign based like L4D is and has been confirmed it will never be apparently and this is the biggest issue with the game for me.
- PVP implementation is awful quite frankly, I dont know what they thinking when they went for this system.
- The atmosphere is severly lacking, hordes are not intimidating at all.
- AI is garbage and there's seemingly no risk or penalty for a player running off on their own. At least in the games I've played.
- No mod support at least at launch
- In game microtransactions will probably kill any chance of mod support
- The maps available in the beta didnt grab me. Its clear that in L4D the maps were designed with PVP in mind which only enhanced the game. This is missing from B4B.

Huge point. In L4D running off on your own was the fast ticket to getting pounced/tongued/ridden/pinned and that threat just isn't really there in B4B - I think maybe one of the specials has a move that locks you to the ground in goo but that's the only one
