**Baddass' Ultimate TFT FAQ and Reviews! (20" and Above Models)**

No worries. There seems to some debate at the moment and many are suggesting that the current batch of Q17s are being shipped with Au Optronics screens.

Have you ordered/received your new beauty? :)

No was going to order intoday, but your post has me a little worried. I hear that the Au Optronics screens are not as good. Think I'll have to give oc'uk a ring to try and find out. Will let you know.

this is being blown WAY out of proportion...........ppl are making then AU panel out to be really inferior or something and in reality it isnt.......the spec is better on paper, some reviewers have said the 20ms Hydis panel performs a little better, but that doesnt make the AU panel carp or anything! true, when Hyundia say theyre using a Hydis panel and aren't then that's a bit odd, but really ur not gunna notice a major difference at all, its still a fantastic panel made my AU as im sure every Hitachi owner on here can tell you! :D

did some chasing for you and emailed LG about it, they say:

Thank you for your email Our specification guidelines state that a failure is when there are four failed pixels or if there are 2 failed pixels within 20 mm of each other then this is also considered a failure. Or one dead centre of the screen I hope you find this information useful and if you need any further assistance then please don’t hesitate to contact us again.

Well gone and done it

OK have ordered my Q17 from oc'uk this morning. Will see what happens. All they could say was that the last batch of Q17 had the hydis panels. Will let you know what happens.

Got It

Ordered my Q17 from oc'uk on Tuesday at 11.30 am, it arrived Wednesday 9.05am and its really great. Looks reaaly cool, no dead pixels. No obvious bluring in game play. Nice and sharp, clear, bright colours. Would highly recomend.

:D

So has anyone actually got a Samsung 172x here? I had a play with my brother's while i was in Sydney and it seemed pretty good, especially the ultra-thin silver bezel (which is what made my Samsung 181T so excellent to use compared to anything i've had since) so i've ordered one to replace my Viewsonic 171b on my shuttle... was just wondering if anyone here had any experience with them?

What's wrong with your ViewSonic dude?

Nothing wrong with it... just fancied a change, and as the office is getting a new guy in next week, just going to let them take it off my hands so the samsung is costing me practically nothing. Besides, like i said it reminded me of the 181T i used to have, which is still my favourite monitor i've had for windows.

Just to add my bit about the 172x now that i got around to setting up last night.

It is everything i had hoped for.. it easily has the best build quality of any of the 17" TFT's i have had (Hitachi, Viewsonic, LG, Hercules) no creaking or effect on the pixels if you squeeze or twist the bezel.. pretty much what i've come to expect from Samsung with their tft's.. Also no dead pixels (and these screens have a 7 day period where you can get it replaced for even 1 dead pixel).

Picture quality is excellent, i don't know what screen Toms Hardware reviewed but having played a few games and watched some of the matrix dvd on it i can say that is definitely up there with all the other tft's i've had in so far as there is no discernable ghosting/tearing to speak of... and bear in mind that when i say all of the above, i haven't even tried out the DVI yet.

So all in all, best 17" tft so far for me.

I still think widescreen is the way forward with monitors though...

Wow at last someone has got one.

Is this 12ms ?
How much?

I thought they were not coming out over here !

yes it is reputedly 12ms, though i can't say i can tell much difference between it and other sub 20ms screens i've used.. though i haven't given it a full work out yet.

Was £403.35 including vat and delivery, and a simple google found me a place that sold it to the UK.
