i think its about £700 ish ... maybe less... forgot now..

yeah, but kinda entering a new price bracket there, not quite as cheap as the £300 - 400 for a decent 17inch TFT :) but hey, if u really need a 1600 res and have the money, im sure it would be v nice!!

Given that the Hercules (esp the DVI part) is out of stock for the forseeable future what do people think is the best alternative. Ideally I was looking for a Black tft to go with my Black Widow case.

Hyundai - colour goes against it as its mainly silver, also styling isnt as nice IMHO as the Herc. Good features such as USB speakers and headphone socket.

Is the USB hub compliant with usb 2.0? and is it well powered?

LG - The other one I'm considering is the stylish LG monitor, downside on that is that it doesnt have a DVI connector. My graphics card only has DVI(though I do have an adaptor).

Other than the considerations above is there anything I'm missing on these monitors. On aesthetics alone I'm edging towards the LG, on features the Hyundai.

help me make a decision =)

personally I wouldn't accept a TFT that wasn't DVI

although the newer monitors make a good job of analogue to digital conversion, it's just plain silly not to have digital all the way IMHO

I see your point and I'm leaning that way. Given that my graphics card has dvi input only if I went with the LG I would be having digital -> analogue -> digital conversions. Is this likely to make any kind of real world difference? =)

i doubt it will make much mroe difference than if ur GFX card had a VGA output anyway, depending on whether the convertor u have is good tho i guess. The Hyundai is a VERY ncie panel, but imo not as nice looking as the new LG ones. Although it is better on paper and feature.....go for the Hyundai i reckon :) (or both!!) :D

DVI hercules you mean? Or is there a DVI LG monitor imminently arriving? (by that I mean with the new styling)

IF you mean the Herc then Gibbo on another thread seems to imply that there are indefinite delays on more herc flat panels due to shortages in the lcd displays.

ripkord do u think u cud post some pictures of ur Q17 when u get it from different angles etc.

I'm thinking about buying one, just can't decide whether or not i like the look of it lol. stupid i know.

thanks.

I have a Q17 and I've got to say it looks great. I like the sound input for the crappy speakers because it also has a sound output for me to plug my head phones into. The USB port is a nice extra. it matches my keyboard and printer as well as my phone adn ADSL Modem/Router.

The Benq FP591 and FP791 are multi-media TFT's
they come with card reader built in and an option of a TV receiver.

also, 16ms response and fantastic contrast makes me wonder why BenQ's aren't more popular...might be colour scheme on them, but i like it personally

FP791

FP591

They also give places on their site of where to buy. See top of page, services and support, where to buy...probably choose online vendors!

hope that helps

Im very impressed my the display so far, Im still playing about with it, and while its a little blurrier that a CRT it by no means whatsoever hurts the gaming experience... No ghosting at all.

Its hard to get used to at first though :)

But yeah, well pleased :)

No dead pixels either :) (was convinced i was gonna get one)

just checked the samsung UK site, and the 172x is on there with a stated 12ms response time, I'm pretty sure this wasnt on there before?! hoho :-)

I'm on the phone to samsung now, I'll keep you posted.

I asked the person if it was 12ms rise and fall, etc. He is going to phone me back.
