Bahrain GP 2009 - Race 4/17

If his surname wasn't Piquet he wouldn't have even got a second season. 1 fluke podium in Germany last year is about the highlight of his F1 career!

Can't see Renault sticking with him for much more if he doesn't get a decent result this GP or the next one.

wonder what the odds are on Piquet finishing the race

I'll give you 500-1 :D

I think the better bet is how many more races hes got at renault, unless he wins this weekend i really dont think hes going to stay past monaco... (same for fisi really, his race craft seems to be more prone to error these days)

What was bad about Ralf when he started F1? How can you even compare his performances to Piquets?

Ralf wasnt a bad driver in his prime. He even won a few races.

Of course, Piquet's cause isnt helped by the fact that he is partnering one of (if not, the) best driver(s) in F1, which makes him look worse than he actually is.

In saying all of the above, Piquet really should give way to another driver...I'm sure there are plenty of other drivers on this planet, who would do a much better job than Piquet.

you dont remember the ralf schumachers spins? ralf was a good driver though imo after he got his act together.

i believe if you look at his points scored during his f1 years compared to everyone else he actually did quite well to

Humm Ralph was sometimes good and sometimes flattered by an ok car or average team mates....

Imagine Piquet vs Kovi at renault.... i doubt piquet would have the measure of him given the same (averageish) car

Kniiiiiiip!

You going to want a wake up call? ;)

I am missing qualy because I won the Bristol City fans forum prediction league, (who says women know nothing about football) and my prize is being invited into the directors box to watch tomorrows game, with a slap up 3 course meal before, but will be up in plenty of time for the race. Will check this thread for any qualifying shenanigans if I can. :)

Damn... so no rude phonecalls in the morning then?

Could watch FP3 at 8 something in the morning. ;)

Ralf was a race or two from getting the boot at Jordan. He was woeful when he started. He took off fisichella his team mate in 97 and I always loved this write up on them in 97....

The Jordans were more or less where one would expect to see them, although one cannot help but wonder what an experienced driver like Damon Hill might have been able to do with the Jordan, which is clearly a very quick car. The new boys did a good job, however, with Ralf "When is the accident going to happen?" Schumacher qualifying sixth (after an armful of spins in practice) and Giancarlo "I've had two big crashes and I'm starting to learn" Fisichella ninth.

Ralf in 97 was no better than Piquet today. The only difference is Ralf had another newbie as a team mate and piquet has alonso.
