Bahrain Grand Prix 2012, Sakhir - Race 4/20

What about qualifying and the race for FI, qualifying will only finish half an hour earlier tomorrow and the race even later on Sunday.

More rumours circulating that some Sauber mechanics were also caught up in some disturbances on the way back to their hotel last night - although there has been nothing said officialy by Sauber or anyone else.

Damn those isolated incidents all seemingly happening at once.

Has now been confirmed:

#F1 Sauber confirms incident last night involving masked men approaching a team vehicle. They escaped with no drama, but still worrying

What's most concerning about this is the fact that it's not just 'kids with molotovs' having an argument which F1 staff stumble into, as most people in this thread seem to think, but it was actually protestors who'd specifically targeted F1 personnel.

I doubt this is the last instance of this that'll happen this weekend too.

Also, FI have confirmed they will do no running in FP2 at all. I assume they'll start again tomorrow in FP3.

Nothing in there about F1 being targeted. They just happened to be there.

Still don't see how people supposedly protesting against the violence to them by inflicting violence against others deserves my sympathy in any way?

Sauber Team of 12 mechanics basically saw some hoodies running about and a molotov burning in the road on the way back to the hotel. hardly involved in an incident.

Here you go, Sauber official statement

"Yesterday (Thursday) night at 2030 (local time) a minibus of the Sauber F1 Team had left the circuit to go back to the Novotel in Manama. At 2050 (local time) the 12 mechanics being on that bus noticed fire on the medial strip of the highway. The traffic was slow, cars had their hazard flashers on. On the opposite lane there was no traffic. The team members saw a few masked people running from there over to their lane where a bottle was burning as well. The mini bus moved to the very right side of the highway and went passed the situation. No one from the Sauber F1 Team was hurt."
