Bahrain Grand Prix 2012, Sakhir - Race 4/20

I don't think Merc's qualfying pace has ever been in doubt. It has always been their race pace which is questionable. They did well in China, where, on all tyres, they were fast.

This race though shall offer a complete change in conditions and we shall get to see if they do well in the heat. If they were fast here, then I think they have a genuinely fast car. My question though, is: Can Rosberg win the title, even if their car is marginally better than the rest?

It wasn't in doubt? Really? Hamilton was half a second ahead in the first race, 0.2 ahead of Schumi the second race and Rossberg was half a second down, then China, Rossberg is half a second up on Hamilton.

That is a full second turn around in three races, with a good 0.7-1 second gain right after they had a challenge on their system turned down.

Its very fair to say they were sandbagging at the least, or more likely weren't using the system in case it was ruled illegal and any results got ruled out.

As for race pace, its just too hard to tell these days. If two Merc's, two Mclarens or two red bulls lead off at the start, when haven't we seen the second car struggle? Being out front is just a ridiculous advantage these days, its not even being within a second of the car in front that seems to slow you down, people are struggling to pull off great qualifying laps if there is a car much further than a second in front now and same in the race. Tyres are going off faster, engines getting hotter.

Being first into the first corner seems to be 70-80% of the game at the moment(though team tactics can easily screw that up.... Mclaren).
