Bahrain Grand Prix 2012, Sakhir - Race 4/20

It was never illegal, so expect they were always running it.

Teams have often been known to hide their advantage while things are under protest though.

Hackers Anonymous have taken down the official F1 site with a DDoS attack in protest at their presence in Bahrain.

edit. Sorry didn't see it posted above.

lol, I missed this the first time it was posted. So the website is down for a few hours....big deal?

I don't quite get what Anonymous are trying to achieve? Surely their efforts would be put to better use taking down the sites of the oppressive government?

Imagine if Rosberg were to win the title at the end of this year. How unexpected would that be?

Not unexpected at all if in the next few races it becomes clear that Mercedes have a blatently superior car, a la Brawn a few years ago and Red Bull last year. I would only find it surprising if he were to win the championship through race craft and out driving others.

I don't think Mercedes have a blatantly superior car. I think they have a fast car in Qualifying.

However, Vettel showed last year that that can be pretty much all you need.

Their long runs today also looked very good, compared to China when they were pretty poor on Friday, just not sure they have the right drivers to deliver.

I don't think Merc's qualfying pace has ever been in doubt. It has always been their race pace which is questionable. They did well in China, where, on all tyres, they were fast.

This race though shall offer a complete change in conditions and we shall get to see if they do well in the heat. If they were fast here, then I think they have a genuinely fast car. My question though, is: Can Rosberg win the title, even if their car is marginally better than the rest?

Going on China, I don't see how he is any different to Vettel or dare I say it, Button (who also took just as long to win his first race!). ;)

Vettel won a race in a very poor car, though.
He showed potential at a ridiculously young age.
He also holds all sorts of records, which relate to winning at a certain age.
I'm not sure that you can compare Rosberg with Vettel.

I think Rosberg is the last of the generation of F1 drivers to be of the era where you had to climb your way up to the top of F1. Do well in lower series, get into a team, perform well, work up through that team and other to the front of the grid, start winning.

Everyone younger than him has been in an F1 where you have to make an immediate impression and be an instant success to avoid being dropped or replaced by a pay driver. Hamilton was the first of these drivers.

Its the different environment that separates the rise of people like Button and Alonso and Webber and Kimi from the other group like Vettel and Hamilton. You simply cannot climb the ladder slowly in F1 any more, which is a shame :(

This is true, despite his father's fame and fortune.

He is also the last to win a race taste success too.

I wonder if Merc are going to go for split setups again like china?

Interesting watching FP1 and FP2 today where other teams were saying that Merc hasn't had a problem with its tyres anymore than anyone else. Just that in testing the team thought the narrow operating range of the Pirrelli was isolated to their car.
