Bahrain Grand Prix 2012, Sakhir - Race 4/20

And get accused of trolling

Half a second up with a less than perfect lap, only 1 real bet for pole at the moment...

It looked as if he had a great lap. There was no mention of any mistakes by the commentary team, and I don't recall seeing any.

Michael in comparison made a massive mistake a few corners from the end. The guys in the commentary box believe he is overheating his tyres, with his more aggressive driving style.

Rosberg does look extremely confidant, though it's worth pointing out that he has only outperformed Michael at 1 race out of 3.

Rosberg has this is the bag already. He's got a clear 0.5s gap to Schumacher on 1 lap pace, plus the fastest Q car overall. It's just down to whether or not he manages to hook up a good one again.

That last lasp from Vettel was close, but don't forget he did that time ~30mins after Rosberg did his, and the track will have been much cleaner as it was very dusty at the start of the session.

As for race pace, its just too hard to tell these days. If two Merc's, two Mclarens or two red bulls lead off at the start, when haven't we seen the second car struggle? Being out front is just a ridiculous advantage these days, its not even being within a second of the car in front that seems to slow you down, people are struggling to pull off great qualifying laps if there is a car much further than a second in front now and same in the race. Tyres are going off faster, engines getting hotter.

Being first into the first corner seems to be 70-80% of the game at the moment(though team tactics can easily screw that up.... Mclaren).

Yep thanks to the comedy tyres chasing is near impossible, your only hope is to pray that the car in front burns out their tyres faster than you do but as we saw last year with Vettel he looked after his tyres well and cruised to victory after victory easily.

It's such a shame, in the past you saw drivers driving out of their skin to close a gap down with the car on the ragged edge but now they're artificially limited as to how much they can push by tyre wear and fuel and all that other **** introduced to make F1 more interesting for simpletons.

I didn't always enjoy F1 when overtaking was limited but the fact is it's worse now because the majority of things that people class as interesting are artificially induced and not real racing.

F1 has become to racing what WWF is to fighting, okay so F1 is not totally scripted but racing has become heavily influenced by the governing body/rules and is no longer racing in its purest form where the fastest driver usually wins. It's like world athletics taking the 100m sprint and telling the athletes they have to do mandatory roly polys, hand stands and other pointless rubbish at certain stages just to give a bit more enjoyment to those watching.

Annoying i was hoping RBR wouldn't solve their issues so fast, seems 90%+ was down to the exhaust not sealing the diffuser which they've now solved.

I Predict.

True as far as you go, but then with a grid /cars performances being much closer so far this season, defending a position can just as easily wear out tyres as following the car in front too closely.

The biggest problem with last season was no one was close enough to SV to pressure him (and therefore stress the tyres more etc)

Personally think its just a differnt style of racing - yes some things are artificial, but then so is a lot of other racing with additional weight carried for winning etc etc

you are of course welcome to your opinion, Im not knocking it as such - but to me the MS years of win after win after win was HUGELY more boring than it was even last season, let alone this (which is much much better than last from the sheer amount of different winners etc)

Its ALWAYS been heavily influenced by the FIA - nature of the beast when there are so many different things a team could do to their car to "cheat" well outside the rules without anyone else actually knowing

Imo its the difference between 100m sprint of yesteryear and a Marathon or even a cross country race (with some sprinting on level ground, some uphill /down hill sections and puddles that need to be jumped) - the ultimate blast can be interesting with little tactics associated, but on the other hand some form of tactics to differentiate the cars / teams can also be very interesting in a different type of way
