Bahrain Grand Prix 2015, Sakhir - Race 4/19

I wonder why lewis wasnt getting poles last year then... interested to know why he didnt feel at one with the car.

didnt like the brakes manufacturer that merc used wasn't it? had he used brembo all his racing career an merc used a different supplier? something like that, so wasn't confident on the brakes

He was using Brembo but afaik had to switch after the big failure in Germany or Hungary, it was only after that time he complained of brake glazing. He clearly lost a little confidence in the brakes both because he'd had a major impact when they failed on the limit and he was no longer using a brake compound he was used to.

I think the first 5 races was what you'd expect, faster guy out qualifying Rosberg pretty badly as he is now. Then you had a little cheating, which added a lot of pressure and frustration and a couple of genuine mistakes followed, but understandable. It was then followed by the two failures in qualifying(brakes/engine) which increased pressure for the rest of the season.

This year, no pressure, complete confidence, brakes working... back to where he was in the first part of last season.

Fingers crossed for a race half as good as last year! Nice to see Kimi doing well and the Williams being closer this weekend.

Randomly watching the 2009 HUngary GP at the moment. Qualifying was strange, I didn't recall that is where Massa got hurt so his crash just seemed a bit odd at first till they realised something fell of Rubens car. Even then he was conscious going into the medical centre and they all assumed he was fine which felt so strange to watch.

Then when they take the damaged Ferrari back into the garage who is standing there but Arrivabene. I knew he was involved but he was just one of those guys you didn't know who you may have seen lots of times but watching that instead he's someone I now know.

Alonso going out with a tire not put on correctly. Kimi with a crazy start, Hamilton blitzing the race and Button sounding like a huge girl complaining about the car. Good/strange race.

I think Rosberg believed his own hype last year, thinking that the car's stratospheric performance, and his engineers telling him how to drive was his own driving ability. He doesn't see how much the car flatters him.

I think he really believed he was the best driver during the course of last season, because he got wins when Hamilton's car failed. Rosberg somehow believed that his supposed cleverness would overcome Hamilton's sheer speed. I don't think Rosberg really cares how he wins ie using "clever" (cheating) tactics as long as it gets him the title at the end of the year.

This year reality has hit Rosberg, especially after his tactics last year and complaining this year has spectacularly backfired. Now he's fighting Vettel as well as Hamilton, and I think the pressure shows. Things Rosberg could get away with last year because Mercedes won't protest their own car (eg cutting a chicane and failing to lose a place, yet not being made to give it back to Hamilton) won't work when it's a Ferrari asking for the place back.

I think we're seeing Rosberg in the middle of a bit of a meltdown, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more ill-advised actions and statements over the course of this season as he mentally adjusts to his defacto position as a number 2 driver.

Yep I agree. He can't even justify Hamiltons performance to himself now

I think Rosberg believed he was better than Hamilton in qualifying and that in order to beat him this year all he needed to learn to do was carry that advantage through to the race because basically they were equally talented drivers.

The trouble is that it's not true; Rosberg wasn't winning the qualifying battle because he was faster than Hamilton in qualifying but because Hamilton was fluffing up his qualifying performance. This year, with the second world championship behind him, Hamilton is nailing qualifying again and Rosberg simply can't match him.

It's going to be a long and depressing season for Nico.

Ham wasn't even fluffing up qualifying much last year. There were break issues, and Rosberg pulling up issues. Once those races are removed from the stats, ham clearly won the qualifying and race battles.

Ros just isn't as good as he thought he was, can be as intelligent as you want but without track position there's not a hell of a lot you can do. Unlike MS who had track position and ruthless.

Nero Romberg is just a #2 driver at heart.

Love Brundle's explanation on lap comparison between Lewis and Seb, much more information given on racing lines, crosswinds, steering angle, track limits, hitting the apex, corners, marker boards, compared to yesterday's crap effort from Bruno Senna.

Remember all the hype surrounding Bruno Senna? What a miserably average driver and a total anti-climax he turned out to be. Brundle's likely forgotten more about F1 than he'll ever know.

First thing i thought too... brundle wants to do this properly. Do like Senna but Brundle / davidson etc. Do a much better job on technical side like that.

Sky have the cream of the F1 staff (Ted, Brundle, Davidson, Crofty), but insist on bundling them in with a bunch of idiots that means they are lost in a sea of dross.

Brundle does some great features but I never get to watch them as I avoid all the bits of the show with Simon etc :(
