Bahrain Grand Prix 2015, Sakhir - Race 4/19

Did he ever react like Ros and Ham have /do in the past though... when he himself was a young whippersnapper?

He was a complete jumped up **** when he thought he was the made it superstar at Benetton. Full of himself. How much of the downfall though was down to him being ahead of himself and how much was because Flav wasn't his manager we will never know, he was much younger than Lewis and co are now though.

Well considering Flavio hired Alonso and not Button back in the day, that said a lot about Button. He was thought of as a bit of a playboy was he not? Seemed more interested in the lifestyle than he was with the racing.

Not surprising though, I'd think a lot of young men would be the same which makes Verstappen an intriguing one. He seems quite mature for his age.

Wait until he's old enough to drink and he discovers girls. :D

I like the whole playboy image thing though. Thats called charisma and its fun. Look at james hunt for instance. drivers are pr coached a heck of a lot more now compared to when button entered f1.

Agreed vestappen does act very mature for his age and that might be just down to his personality, if he continues like he is then he must be a rarity.

Button was no more a playboy then than he is now, just flavio playing his mind games and justifying his choice of drivers, who is he to accuse anyone else anyway when he behaves the way he has. After all flavio used to have the biggest boat in Monaco at one time. Whatever flavio thought, button was, and still is, a highly ranked driver.

Not that I remember, he has always seemed pretty level headed. Although it's not unusual for great sportmen/drivers to have the odd tantrum, some people just have to let the emotion out. The real test of greatness is how quickly they get over it. Controlled emotion/aggression can be a great asset.

It's also understandable that some drivers will react differently when more is at stake (i.e. their reputation, a championship/having the fastest car etc).

Verstappen is 17 and has barely left his fathers presence.

As for the Flavio comment that's just funny coming from him.

If there isn't the progress Mclaren/Honda want, it'd be understandable if he took a break whilst waiting for a seat in a competitive car. You could see Ferrari/Red Bull/Mercedes taking him on even if he'd had two years out for example, given his talent.

I dunno.

I don't think being out of it is a good idea. Better to sign a one year contract surely

You mean like the entire time he drove for Honda and the crew pretty much had enough of him and he would skulk and stomp off, never forgiving Button for how pathetic he was in those days.

Kimi has shown you can leave F1 and get back into it (albeit doing other racing in the meantime).

Kimi showed that. Huh. So much for Niki Lauda, eh? And he won a championship after retiring and coming back! Ditto for Alain Prost, his sabbatical being shorter of course.
