Bahrain Grand Prix 2015, Sakhir - Race 4/19

Vettel had a couple of laps on the new softs, as Mercedes felt the need to pit Rosberg first (though still missed out on getting Rosberg out ahead of Vettel).

I really didn't like that, they know very well that the undercut works well at this race but felt it better to possibly compromise Hamiltons race over Rosbergs.

Hamilton clearly knew nothing about it as he was asking after the pit stop what happened to the gap.

Another race missed and thus watched the highlights last night in bed... all 22 minutes of them.

I don't understand why he gets the blame for the undercuts? Isn't it is the team that call the shots on the pit stops?

Why who gets the blame for the undercuts?

Hilarious to watch Ferrari repeatedly bring Vettel in just as Kimi was about to pass him anyway. We can't have the four times WDC passed on the track by his number two, can we?

Opps, Rosberg. A few posts seems to blame everything on him, even the undercuts.

You could blame him for not pulling out a 5 second lead like his team mate did, twice.

Come in too early and it makes the later stints too long, which could be even worse. Really does make strategy a lot harder for Mercedes if Rosberg cannot pull out a gap. He drove well to get past the Ferrari's both times but really shouldn't have been in that position.

Again his brake issue at the end, Hamilton had the same problem but had the gap to recover, Rosberg didn't and lost a position.

Nico will never be WDC if he lets people rattle him this easy. Lewis is making him look the fool.

He's always been that way. He likes to portray himself as a "thinker" and cool under pressure but in reality, he's nothing of the sort. The radio clampdown has shown how little he knows about what's going on around him and he's incredible easily rattled. Thing is, Hamilton was often called emotional last year but the reality is just that he tends to vent his frustrations in the heat of the moment and then gets over it very quickly. Contrast this with Rosberg, who spent the entire summer break brooding about how Lewis refused to move aside for him and then brought that frustration to Spa and promptly crashed into him. Rosberg is the far more unstable emotionally.

"what is perhaps less well known is that Ferrari has an ace up its sleeve in races this year on the ERS and turbo sides of the power unit. In particular they have a very strong battery and a small compressor, which is very efficient and rival engineers say that this means they can run at a reasonably aggressive preset mode for the whole race, whereas Mercedes has a lower regime in its race mode, to which it sometimes need to descend in races".

The Canada upgrade on the engine should be an interesting one, even more competitive Ferrari would be awesome for the championship.

Finally watched the race on record, and once again I'm posting...

LOL MALDONADO!!!

Has he even finished yet this season? I want him to stay in F1, such entertainment.

Unlucky for rosberg losing it last few laps.

I recorded the race and watched it very late on the Sunday evening, so it is very possible I have forgotten about it already, but I thought Loldonardo actually finished in Bahrain

No, stalled the car in the pits, brakes smoked and had to retire, after lining up in 18th place on the grid and accruing a penalty for it because he was supposed to line up 16th.

Which was the only sensible thing to do. Hamilton, even with a dire stop, still kept first place. Rosberg was in no danger of passing Hamilton but he was in danger of being beaten by Vettel. Mercedes made the right call.

Yep Hamilton is almost as easily rattled and despondent but he has the pace to dig himself out of it and restart fresh the next year. Rosberg doesn't. Rosberg is the perfect partner to keep hamilton happy. The worst thing they could do is give Hamilton someone more testing while they have the best car on the grid. They just need Rosgerg to fulfill the massa role now. Pick up consistent podiums and occasionally get in the way.

Both are pretty weak and easy to rattle but Rosberg won't recover from it. He's done, like Webber was, Massa and all those other no2's. To me it shows how resilient Button is, he never collapses like that despite being paired with top drivers. Even Vettel gave up and jumped ship, he certainly didn't fancy another season having his image in tatters alongside Rici.

Yep in 2012 button just got on with the job when lewis was beating him. None of this emotional meltdown rosberg is having atm... and from belgium onwards started beating lewis.

Infact I remember that race being where Button had got to Lewis... he got under his skin so much that Lewis had his own meltdown and took to twitter to publicly share the telemetry data. People are quick to forget. The thing with Button is he doesnt exhibit any of these emotional tantrums. He is head strong and given the car a bloody good and formidable racer... as Belgium 2012 showed if he has a decent car set up for his narrow window of precision he is untouchable. He doesn't display any mental fragilities making it extremely difficult for other drivers to pick on any weaknesses. The fact that he is so well liked and plays being friends with everyone also makes him strong because he therefore doesnt allow a situation to arise whereby he feels the world is against him.

Rosberg by contrast has surely felt at times like the worlds against him and this further batters you when being beaten by your team mate.
