As a fairly neutral race watcher, all I can hope for is that at least two teams are in the hunt for wins based on fair racing performance. The more teams the merrier.

However, if Max tries his dirty battling, I really hope it backfires horribly... Especially early on in the season and forces him to learn some proper racecraft.

Agreed. I also hope the FIA for once actually enforce their own rules on such behaviour from Max rather than picking and choosing what and how they apply.

Mercedes definitely had some traction issues on the first morning of Bahrain testing. Hamilton could barely brake or accelerate without locking up or spinning the wheels.

I don't think the PU is holding them back too much - it even be a deployment thing, where Mercedes are just deploying more energy on other straights in which case you'd expect their speed trap numbers to be lower - and their bigger issue is more of a downforce thing, but I think most people expect them to get on top of this sooner rather than later.
Yes the did look a handful in early testing and I agree they'll get on top of it, they always do.
When they get on top of things it'll probably be an absolute beast.

I don't know man. I don't think it is just a coincidence that the Ferrari powered bottom teams are now suddenly in the midfield and snapping at the heels of the Merc, whilst Mclaren, Aston Martin and Williams all look rubbish....

I'm certain the difference is the engine here, and that the Ferrari engine is a beast.
Yeah there is that and it did cross my mind, but at the same time the AM and Williams just don't look like a great package, as for McLaren, they still have brake issues, and perhaps their design philosophy just isn't working.
Or maybe you're right, Merc PU is simply down on power and only the works team can spin their magic to get anywhere near the rest.
Time will tell :)

I never said he wasn't, I'm British after all, I like to see our drivers win. That doesn't mean I call Christian Horner a ****, when all the TP's are the same. That doesn't mean I call Max fans bigots. That doesn't mean I accuse Max of being a bad person because of something his father did.
I'm not sure who you're referring to regards Max being a bad person because of his father, personally I don't think that's the case, but I do feel that Horner has rubbed off on him somewhat.
And I disagree, TP's really are not all the same, not at all.
You can feel aggrieved for Lewis without being a piece of **** (not aimed at your comment @azazl187). That's what so many in here fail to do. The worst part is how the moderation team allow so much of it to slip through, so it encourages the pitch forked armed neanderthals to continue.
But this is a discussion forum, people post opinions. I appreciate what you're saying but if I think someone is a turd then that is exactly that, an (my) opinion, calling someone a 'not nice person' instead doesn't quite have the same ring about it ;)

that is just it. I think Merc actually do have pretty good aero courtesy of their pod design etc.

I think if they had that ferrari engine, the Merc would likely be the fastes.

Every other one of Scam's post mentions the aforementioned first point. I wasn't referring to you, don't worry :).

With regards to TP's; the same as all elite sportsman, they're all "prima donna's" when the pressure is on. Just how elite sport is, tiny margins. Why football is infested with diving etc. Obviously it would be better if it wasn't there but I suppose it adds to the drama for the casual fans etc. Netflix certainly must love it, although I don't personally watch Drive To Survive, as it will inevitably overdramatised.

The only sport I can think of that isn't full of poor behaviour is rugby.

Anyway, on topic for this weekend, can't wait for the race, going to be a great season.

Mad F2 race coming to a close now. Two cars released without wheels attached (one blocking pitlane), Vips having over a 4 second lead, only to suffer the mare of all pitstops but made it back up to third, Iwasa coming from last to lead now with fresher tyres and in P7, and now the restart with 2 laps to go!

Were multiple pit stops in that race where the car was dropped before it was ready. Those 2 incidents were lucky not to cause serious harm. Nissanys driving was appaling before the sc.

Are you watching F1 on Sky, just showed why people have formed the opinion he is a horrid little **** like his father.

Were Brundle and Croft commentating on Sky? I'm using F1TV which used to use the Sky commentary, but noticed through this race the've had a bunch of randoms such as Palmer and some others that sound like they the fan commentary sky used to have on the football yers ago.
Switch the F1TV to international commentary and you’ll get Crofty and Brundle.

People don’t think Max is a **** just because of the actions of his father.

People can see see and hear that Max is a ****, based on his on- and off-track behaviour, and then deduce that he is the way he is because of the environment he was brought up in.

It’s two very different things.

Ah ok. Yes, I’ve never seen other drivers do that ever, it’s a first off for F1 :p! Obviously sarcasm.

Honestly doesn’t bother me in the slightest, again high stakes equals humans acting strangely :). In all walks of life tbh, not just sport. Doesn’t mean it’s great obviously or should happen, I’m not justifying it.

I have no issue with his racing style tbh, I like it. Few and far between who will actually go for gaps. I wanted Hamilton to win the last race but felt Max was the more deserving driver over the course of the season. The way it was decided was obviously horrible though. I also was at Silverstone and saw Lewis’s move first hand and still think it was more dangerous than any move Max tried throughout the season, due to the speed etc.

It’s swings and roundabouts. If people could have rational and calm conversations about it then that would be fine but many on here prefer to go straight to the gutter, at that point it’s not a discussion.
