Does that make it better? OR will it be like films such as transformers came out in 4K and you could see where all the pyrotechnics and other effects had been placed. Or football in high res with close ups of 60 year old manager's faces, and people picking their nose ;)

New graphics taking up yet more of the screen.

Those look good, IMO, and nice to see the tyre on the graphic but I'll reserve judgement until we see them during the races. It'd be nice if F1 adopted the thing from e.g. Formula E where they show the grouping of the cars by moving them nearer and further apart rather than using even spacing. Weird time for graphic designers as simultaneously TVs get bigger and more and more people watch stuff on small mobile screens. It's a difficult compromise.

I think the Mercs are going to be 7th and 8th behind RB, Ferrari and Mclaren...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought all last season it was the case that Merc hadn't really worked on the car (kept same as it was) to concentrate on 2022, whereas RB put a ton of effort into the 2021 car and that's how they came out so competitive?

Obviously when they had a fight on their hands Merc brought in a lot of upgrades, but I still thought they were concentrating on 2022 from the outset. Or maybe I'm just wishful thinking.. I'd love to see RB have an absolute dog of a car. Max might "headbutt someone" lol

First race of the season! Are we excited, folks?

I can barely contain my utter indifference ;)

No, seriously. Going to be interesting at least to see how these new cars act in a race environment. And to see if any teams did indeed completely screw the pooch with their design. Just hoping that it's not Ferrari who did so...

This will be the one time a HAM BOT VER podium will actually be interesting

I'd be shocked if Alfa manage to go the race distance after the reliability issues they had been facing in testing. Surely they can't remedy all that in a week.

I can see a ferrari or 2 on the podium this weekend, also wouldn't count Gasly out of a podium either. Quali tomorrow is going to be very interesting as it's when all the cards will truely be shown. I still don't know if merc are doing usual merc tactics or if they genuiinely don't have a podium winning car at the moment.

Sadly I really wanted McLaren to be a strong force this season but I just don't believe they've nailed regs, I really hope I eat my own words this weekend though. Peak British Podium of Nor, Rus, Ham would be a nice treat as well.

Just spotted this in the Event Notes:

19) Track Limits
In accordance with the provisions of Article 33.3, the white lines define the track edges.

Are we actually going to see an end to this garbage of only monitoring track limits in particular places and being fine with drivers going off track elsewhere?

Yes, I for one am very happy we are starting to get clear unambiguous direction. New direction team starting off on a good foot! Lets hope its enforced fairly and correctly.

To be fair, with the new cars and low floors etc I doubt they will be quite as eager to abuse the limits of the tracks quite as much as recent years for fear of floor damage.

New race directors are from WEC and DTM where they're much stricter on this.
