They seem to still be running those side skirt stays, did they change the rules to allow them, or have they found some loophole?

Yep no doubt about it, merc are in a massive hole

No idea if he was pulling my leg or being honest.
However an ex colleague did say during the week, that neither of the Merc drivers did a full quali style low fuel run during the Barcelona or Bahrain test.

They both concentrated on relatively high fuel load race pace, not flat out performance runs.

Time will tell I guess.

Hopefully that’s the case but I can’t see it

Lewis' car has the yellow T bar this year? Noticed that at the testing and thought it was unusual.

Reckon for Merc they may not be right up there initially but it won't take them long and they seem to have a very very strong car when it's operating in the window.

Stays were on the car at the last test.

Yeah the weight limit was upped a little 3kg was it? Alfa Romeo is said to be the only car at the weight limit. It was also said 10kg in weight was worth 0.35-0.4s a lap.

Yes, but it was being said that they were not legal. That could have been wrong.

Do we know why they are struggling with weight limits this year?

Ok yes George was on softs, Max on mediums, so around half a second delta between compounds.

But that still puts George only few tenths behind Max not over a second behind like during pre season.

Also Lewis has the new floor on his car, and most likely will always be a few tenths faster than George in similar circumstances.

So hopefully starting to look a lot more positive for Mercs.

Weight limit was deliberately set very very tight.

Ross preferred a situation where teams had to trim stuff to get down to weight limit, not where they had to add ballast to get up to it.

Aye, but it's up quite a bit on last season, what's new that is pushing the weight up? Is it just the new tyres being heavier?

New tyres, new wheels, minimum weights increased on loads of other parts like ICE, g/box, various components within them, more mandatory sensors for FIA monitoring, much stiffer stronger and bigger safety cell and crash structures all around the car.

All add up.

So I used a vpn to sign up to F1 TV Pro. Someone said they only needed to use VPN to sign up for the subscription. But when I fire up the F1 app on a FireTV stick, it doesn’t show me FP1.

Im guessing you now need a VPN to watch also?

If I use the F1 app on my iPhone, it’s the same as the Fire stick. As soon as I enable a VPN connection, it then lets me watch FP1.
