I don't support the top teams. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm glad ferrari are 1,2.

Not just because it's a change but because the drivers and the team boss seem genuinely decent and likeable. Very different to the old ferrari.

Also not dissapointed to see rbr fail. Not a fan of verstappen or horner. They seem to destroy second drivers.

Also, not a Hamilton fan but happy for him to get third.

Hope there's a fight up front but do want a ferrari win. Ideally sainz! :D

Good race.
Not convinced that new rules have really helped though.

think toto said merc where running a bit more downforce so that lowered the top speed a little.

I remember hearing (In one of the free practices) they had their highest downforce rear wing, to which whomever was commentating at the time called BS, saying it might the highest downforce one they've made so far for that package, but I bet when hungry and Monaco come around they have a higher downforce one.

It's all relative.

After the race Toto said they were running more down force than others to compensate for the car, that their pace wasn't too bad but they had more tyre deg than others, and that the hards were slow (losing 1 second a lap). Hopefully shows they have potential.

It’s probably already been discussed, but Ocon’s 2 penalty points for a first lap incident suggest a new direction for the FIA. Have the rules of engagement changed again?

I’m still on the fence about the new rules. It would be interesting to see a race without DRS.

Pleased for Ferrari and I like how they’ve quietly gotten on with it and have produced an excellent car and engine. A year of Ferrari winning would be great for the sport. We just need Mercedes to get into the mix with Ferrari and RB and it could be the best season yet.

At least Bottas continued the tradition of being very quick in qualifying, and then forgetting where the go pedal is at the start of the race.

The man is awful at race starts.

Seeing him stuck behind someone (forget who) for about 5 laps with fresh tyres made me think "classic Bottas". He seems to happily sit behind someone thinking about making a move but not actually making a move.

Yeah that was such a shame. I was hoping for a good result for him.
He just isn't that good. It's basically identical to his merc days.
As good as Hamilton in quali. But below average in race.

They have apparently changed the rules on overtaking and how drivers should behave on track but these rules have not been published. From the BBC news article, it sounds like they could have been summarised as "don't drive like Verstappen".

Wasn't that only because of the safety car though (ie he got lucky in terms of pitting etc)?

Both Alfas were looking good prior to the SC, they looked like they could two stop it quite comfortably and might even have made up more places because some of the others had to pit for fresh tyres. Bottas was 8th, Zhou was 9th before the SC. Bottas kept his place, Zhou fell to 13th, and then they were promoted due to the RB's failing, and Zhou made it past Mick who hadn't stopped for fresh tyres.

They really need to bring the cool down room back now. These chats between drivers are a lot more interesting than just standard driver interviews.

Agreed. The drivers show a lot of respect for each other in these informal moments.

So there we go. I thought it had been left since he clearly only went over when he lost traction and thus didn't gain an advantage.
Surely to be consistent, they should delete the time regardless of whether or not he went quicker. Take away the potential for grey area and arguments...

Apart from Lewis and Rosberg throwing hats at each other... Max stepping up to Ocon etc. :p I'm sure there's been much worse that I can't think of, but yes it's a shame not to see that anymore?

The only time you see their true colours is when they are stressed and something is on the line. Its easy to be nice to people who aren't your competition or who you haven't been in a conflict with. Verstappen has had very little to do with the Ferraris and his car broke down. Being ****** with Leclerc would be really odd.

See what happens later in the season if Verstappen has something to win/lose and Lecerc is in his way.

We already have, he hit him and then had an argument about it.
