Baldur's Gate 3

Finally Started playing with the GF on tactician (first play) on coop split screen with controllers. It's the first new game I've played in about 5 years.

I found it frustrating that it isn't identical to D&D. We are both very familiar with D&D. For me I don't like that some spells are different. It means I have to check every spell.
I also wish it was first person.

But everything else is great. I get why they change some things. It's just frustrating!

Controller is a bit difficult to use. Some things take a lot of button pushes. And split screen is definitely tricky too with such a small FOV.

I think some things are broken. Wet condition is too powerful. And the minor illusion is also too effective.

We are running a party with
Me: Storm Sorcerer (shame sorcerer class is limited)
GF: moon druid
NPC1: shadowheart
NPC2: astarion

You might find this page useful: https://bg3.wiki/wiki/D&D_5e_rule_changes

There's quite a lot of changes from 5e as things that work around a table don't work as well in a video game.

Wow. There are some big ones.

The game does not stop a character from casting a levelled spell with both an action and a bonus action in the same turn.

Initiative is a d4?

Thanks for this list. Very useful

What you bought it full price no way?? Would have thought you wouldnt bite until its a fiver.

I think that was @Noxia that started that trend about me only buying games at a fiver. Though I did go along with it for fun to be fair :p

If you look back, for new games i have always said £35 was my sweetspot. I just got Crimson Desert sub £35 for example.

Fiver is more for games I kind of fancy, but in no rush.

I am willing to go beyond £35 if I class a game as must play. But these are quite rare :D

You paid £35 for Crimson Slop lmao. Thank you for assisting the beta testers.

I’ve got back into this after a few months of not feeling it.

I still really struggle in combat though, last night a stumbled upon two Minotaurs who continued to wipe my squad out until I eventually beat them but had three dead teammates!

They seemed to do 20 plus damage whilst my lot are lucky to get more than 5 per hit.

This is the best rpg I've ever played. Still in act 1. It's the first time I've actually wanted to play a game in 5 years.

Feel for people who haven't played D&D picking this up! That's a steep learning curve.

Started straight on tactician as I'm used to D&D.

And yes.. I am up at 230 because I've just finished playing!

I'm playing 1 campaign with the gf. And one solo. Trying to stay roughly a step behind solo.

I'm playing with
Me - bard/lore - as it's my favourite class
Shadowheart/death domain - (2nd fav sub class), she's so strong.
Astarion - use him more as a tactical character
Laezel - not a fan of her character, but need a tank.

But

I've just today found karlach. And instantly dumped Laezel. Soon as I had one conversation with karlach I knew Lazel was going.
Was just glad karlach is a tank I could replace Laezel with!

Stopped playing tonight to pick her sub class.

Maybe your party isn't varied enough? What Classes are you running?

Good on you but that's brave or foolish but I love both! Enjoy :)

I'm quite good at strategy games anyway. And as I don't have to learn much for this game like a non player would, it's not too bad. Shows how good an adaption they've done here.

I only TPKed twice. Once it was at the start when I fell into a hole with some really powerful enemies at level 1 with my magic heavy party. And second an uexpected fight with some harpies. The charm effect is brutal. I know all too well from D&D!

Its getting easier as I level up.

Tempted for another Act 1 playthrough. Need a proper game to sage the room after attempting to play Star Citicon.

i remember that .... that was... irritating ! and helped to prove to me how deadly the game is if you dont approach it the right way. im not far on from that point at the moment.
