Ballistix's die again....

I've had mine running since June at 240, 3-3-3-8, 2.8v, 1t, no active cooling. No problems so far, fingers crossed.

well mine aint dead yet but i get more bsod's than ever, page faults, which means memory. no doubt these ballistix are crap. this is at 2.7v..

avoid!

Run memtest?

They're supposed to run at 2.8v btw.

if you run them at 2.8volts, they will die within a few months. Ive slowly tested mine lower and lower and they are running fine 2.65volts at 3-4-4-8 1t @ 255mhz.

Then why do Crucial specify 2.8v at default speeds & timings??
Even when I e-mailed them about the problems I've been having, they said 2.8V is the default voltage for them.

It's true, they are specified as 2.8v on crucials website and thats what i have set mine to so if they die at that then they will be going back and i will be asking for a refund not replacement.

I so wish i had found this thread a week ago

Ain't read all the posts but had my ballistix 2x512 PC4000 kit go **** up.. still boots but theres about a thousand errors coming up in memtest :(

still waiting for crucial to get back to me on the RMA.. not the best time of year for it :(

What speeds and timings?

Ive got a weird problem, dont seem to get errors, just memtest freaks out.

yes i know.... but im only telling you my findings. 2.8 is the max they cover under warrenty, and is for overclocking.

However they *should* be ok for 2.65-2.7 when run at default

Mine run a little on the hot side of things at 2.8v as well. Still had them for about 6 weeks now and there doing Ok so far.

Mine wouldn't even boot with 2.7v at default speeds.
Either way I won't be using Ballistix again.

After reading this thread i have set mine to 2.7 they seem stable at that voltage at 265mhz so i'm happy to leave it set to that for now.

Brother just had his 2nd 1gb kit of PC4000 ballistix die. Interesting thing about the volts, after ringing crucial he was even told to check that they were definitely running at 2.8v. Although, good job crucial seem to have a very swift rma process.

My sticks deffinately seem to be fubar. Strange thing is they pass memtest finem but do anything remotely stressful in windows and you get BSOD :(

just had mine go boobs up today. well i figured it out today anyways.
my sticks were the CL1115x.xx stuff too but mine ended with 2 numbers instead.

how do you stand if the replacements are cruddy too? is there a set number of swaps that ned to take place before crucial will refund the cash?

Running the 2gb kit here on a DFI Sli board. Have them running at 272.8 3-3-3-8 with 2.8v set in the bios - actually seem to be getting slightly more volts than that though. Also have a 120mm fan blowing straight down onto the memory. Funny thing though - when I run the memtest that's built into the board i get errors but I can run anything in windows totally stable including OCCT and I just finished 14 hours of prime. Odd.

sent my 2 back to crucial aswell.

the first set of 2x1gig pc4000 worked for 2 weeks then died resulting in them not memtesting with out errors in default or 200mhz
the 2nd rma 4 days later the ddr died wouldnt do default without memtest errors @2.7v or 2.8v

this time i RMA`d for a refund they said they wouldnt refund me becuse i had the memory for 3 months already, i then asked to speak to there customer supervisor she said just a moment and 2 minutes later she came back and said we will RMA Refund your request :)

WOOOT ;p

got to admit it though crucial has the best DDR RMA support team.
free number aswell lol but dam i dont think im going crucial again becuse of there bad ballistix line.
