Bambu X1

The sage continues.

So I arrived at the depot this morning in Northampton, around 35-40 miles from my house only to be told it wasn't there but out for delivery to my home address. They had took the details of my home address and the control centre manager, allegedly, confirmed with the driver that they were to deliver my printer to my home address today as the tracking now showed. This morning before I set off the tracking said it was at the depot for me to collect. I phoned home, ah my account name should have been ElliotR if I hadn't made a typo, and made sure someone was going to be here until I got home. An hour later, upon my arrival home, I checked the tracking again and it said "sorry we cannot make delivery today". Whilst I was at the depot they had a customer complaint phone number on the wall so I took a photo of it. I called the number and someone from customer service said the system had gotten confused and assured me the package will be delivered to my home address Monday. I got her to confirm my home address 3 times.

Fortunately I work with some very accommodating colleagues, I work in the office with my companies financial director, who are more than happy for me to take Monday off. Considering they've seen me somewhat miffed since Wednesday with Bambu Lab and Yodel I think they'd rather I got this sorted and mot be there to possibly bite their heads off. Though I wouldn't as I'm not like that. One of the company jokers started to make a joke about it on Wednesday when I was very annoyed, he quickly realised it wasn't the time and took the **** an hour later when I'd calmed down and took it for the joke it was.

It won't come Monday, I can't think any other way with the *********** that it's been so far.

Out of the blue a knock on the door and a man in a hi viz with the printer. Not sure what’s gone on exactly but after all that I am thinking there are some decent people at Yodel and due to what happened today they sorted it out at the depot.

I am very impressed with this printer. No real issues so far, apart from it sometimes gives me an error about not seeing the build plate localisation marker though its unobstructed. I do feel the build plate locating tabs could be better and BL could have taken a leaf out of Prusa's book as my Mini+ is so easy to locate perfectly everytime.

I just had an error regarding the lidar not working but I believe that was linked to me having a light source shining into the printer to better light up a print for someone at work who I designed and then printed a little sensor shelf for him. It's been fine every print before and since when I've not had a light shining in.

The only other issue I've had is of my own making, on Sunday I decided to print a build surface stand, which took up most of the bed diagonally, and I had some warpage. I do know that on larger prints warping can be an issue and I should have used a brim. I shall try again with this at the weekend.

Damn, it's stupidly fast.

Glad you're happy with it.
I get the build surface marker error all the damned time. No idea why. Only on the high-temp plate though. The cool-plate is fine.
Had my first failed print yesterday but kind of not. I set the printer going before going to bed and when I came down in the morning it was sat there having printed the first layer with an error on the screen complaining that there was errors in the first layer. I had a look and couldn't see anything wrong so pressed resume and the print completed successfully. I guess I need to wait for the first layer to complete before leaving the machine in future.

I think you're right about the light stopping the lidar from working. I've seen reports of this from people who have stuck LED strips on the top of the machine.

I printed a Y adaptor for the AMS a few days ago so that I can feed a filament from an external spool if needed without disconnecting the AMS bowden tube. Seems to work well and it printed TPU just fine. I didn't bother with the rear spool mount. Just got the additional spool in an Esun drybox thing sat next to the machine.

P1P first impressions are starting the appear on the web now. Looks like a great machine for pretty much everyone. At £699 they are aiming squarely at the Prusa MK3S and I really can't see a good reason to get the Prusa over the P1P now.

@Rilot Do you have to unplug the 4 pin connector when using and external spool instead of the AMS? The wiki seems to indicated you have to but I thought with the more recent firmware, with the option to untick AMS at slicing, you wouldn't need to.

Yes I dipped in and out of 3D Printing Nerd's live stream last night of the P1P and do like the look of it and I would definitely have one over a Prusa MK3 now I've experienced the X1C.

Just in case, this sort thing is important to you.

Ok that doesn't really show how I wanted but basically the Bambu has the network security of a brick and could be hackable.
And... if it's hacked (even though there is basically no reason for a hacker to spend time doing so) what will the hacker do? Have it print a penis?

Such a non event.

OK, just read the tweet.

Fair enough, that's pretty poor.

Read on Dicord a way to remove bubbles from the plate coating and it worked.

I put the High Temp Plate High Temp side down and had the bed heated to 55c for 90 mins. It came off san bubbles. When it happens again I'll try an hour.

What a great piece of kit, are they available despatched from the UK yet just looked on the Uk site, bought a Flashforge Adventurer 4 last week looks like it will be going back to the rainforest.

Cheers all

Thanks for the info one last question, is the multi filament gadget necessary as all I am looking for at present is a fast machine with very good print quality,
I suppose I could add one at a later date if needed.

Thanks

Cheers all

X1 Carbon arriving tomorrow without the AMS unit only ordered the machine yesterday really looking forward to getting the printer up and running.

Not so much worried about the speed of prints its the quality that I am after, but will see how it goes.

Cheers all
