Bank Holiday Weekend Footy Spoilers

Why dont arsenal buy some like heskey we need someone like him at the moment :o

I would have loved pompey to go down but oh well every team I wanted to stay up goes down same with norwhich union last year :(

Newcastles game was poor , I expected a win tbh.
Either team could have snatched it at the end and the draw was probably fair , nice to see Bruce relegated though.
Given once again earned his wages today as did both of our centre backs.
Owen got 30 minutes at the end and looked ok , had 2 good chances Id fancy he'd put away when a little fitter and also took a few tough challenges.
No escaping the fact that Newcastle didnt have 1 shot on target today.

Heskey was actually fairly strongly linked to Arsenal when he was at Leicester. I think he's the sort of player that thrives on confidence and needs to be the 'main man', which is why he never really succeeded for big teams (Liverpool/England). There were some times at Leicester when he looked almost unplayable - pace, power and even reasonable ball control and finishing!

Anyway, there's some players at Brum on big money who they might be prepared to offload, and it wouldn't suprise me to see clubs like Wigan sniffing about.

He was, but he was also a good player then, really strong runner, since his 'Pool days he's lost his pace, and his goal threat. He was a really good prospect at City, shame he became crap.

I think teams like Wigan, Fulham and Reading will be after several of their players.

Congratulations chelsea fans you totally outplayed us we totally lost it after the first goal rooney should have scored with the 1 on 1 with Cech though. :(

Poor rooney scan tommorow so should find out abit more then hope its not bad. :(

Apparently Englands Michael Owen wasnt feeling to clever after the game today.
From the official Newcastle website:
GLENN Roeder has said it's a case of "wait and see" after Michael Owen admitted his foot didn't feel 100 per cent right after his 30-minute comeback for Newcastle United in the goalless draw at Birmingham.

The Magpies' record signing was a second half substitute in the stalemate at St. Andrew's, his first action since fracturing a metatarsal in his right foot at Spurs on New Year's Eve.

After Wayne Rooney's injury for Manchester United at Chelsea earlier in the day, there was huge media interest in Owen's condition.

So Roeder, speaking after the game, told Newcastle World they will wait to assess the striker properly and stressed there was no need for frenzied speculation.

He said: "Michael came in after his 30 minute run-out and said he wasn't 100 per cent happy with it.

"He is not saying he is feeling a sharp pain or an excessive pain but he just doesn't fell 100 per cent right.

"There is a little bit of a dull ache there, so he is being honest, as he always is.

"We can't comment any more until his body cools down and the medical team have a look at it between Sunday and Monday.

"If he had had a major problemn he would have put his hand up very quickly and would have had to come off.

"But he didn't, he completed the full 30 minutes and when he got back to the dressing room he spoke to Derek Wright and said it doesn't fell 100 per cent but it's a case of wait and see.

"Of course he is concerned, but he's not overly concerned, and we would be just talking for the sake of talking if we said any more than that.

I dont think there is anything to worry about with these players regarding the World Cup we still have over a month to go.. we will be ok.

Lets shade our english negative views and say, we will be fine and we will do well this time

Arsenal linked with Zog.

Good young player, what do you thank Mr Vandle?
He's the best young prospect we have had since Gazza.
Hes young , french and left sided - linked with Arsenal because of the Pires situation I reckon.
I think we will fight hard to keep him after the tribunal we went through after signing him in the first place.
Cost us about £60k from LeHavre
If we let a player like that go then the club truely has no ambition.

I had a sore head this morning :p
Great game, great atmosphere - Stamford Bridge was rocking from the first minute.
For a "must win game", I thought MU looked poor. Watching Football First this morning confirmed it - Silvestre was awful, and after the first goal MU heads seemed to go down.
On any other day you would have expected Rooney to bury that...
Cole was magnificent, and his goal was well deserved.
No, I didnt get JM's jacket or medal :(
Worst aspect of the day (apart from Rooney's injury) was the police deciding that Chelsea fans aren't allowed to celebrate and being extremely heavy handed to supporters who looked like having fun.
A number of pubs close to the ground were told to close, and it seemed the police were dead set on clearing the area and stopping the celebrations from occuring in any way.
So a big thumbs down to the Met from me.
I'm off for a coffee and some aspirin, and the curry that seemed such a good idea last night is about to make a re-appearance

Happy days:)
No matter what everyone thinks of JM & the players, there is no doubt that we deserved the title. An outstanding performance all season from Terry was the main factor I think. He led by example & drove us on when it got a bit rough, the next England captain without a doubt.
Quite worying to read that JM almost packed it in twice during the season, the media definitely got to him:(
Better luck next year you lot;)

25k!!

What do you think of this?
What kind of fan would sell a winners medal?
I know I wouldnt (as if that going to happen  ) , I know its a lot of money but I would probably wear it everyday , even for bed!

What do you think of Jose hoying it into the crowd?
Do you think its a great gesture to the fans or does it show some disrespect?

Yep, absolutely right. Congratulations to Chelsea. Easily deserved the title. I admit I did hope they would slip up to make it interesting but they were too good. The only problem I have with them is their apparent lack of respect for their opponents. I don't mind arrogance. But when that arrogance turns to disrespect, I start to dislike it.

Real Madrid need a manager don't they? ;)

I think Reading might try to buy Upson, he had a loan spell here a couple of seasons ago and is highly rated by Reading fans because of it. I hope so, he's a much better option than either Sonko or Inga. :)

Disrepectful. But surely in the future he will regret it, most ex-players say the medals really mean something to them. I can't see any other manager doing it. I wouldn't be suprised to see him leave this close season or next.

Congrats to Chelsea too.

Still not sure on Pires, great player, one of the best scoring midfielders of his generation but has lost his pace. Wouldn't mine seeing N'Zogbia coming in.
