BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Is that price going to stay like that now until Monday morning Gibbo?

HI there

Yes until Monday morning only. The cheaper place is a different manufacturer which could have inferior panel, lack of DVI cable and charges a lot more for shipping. Plus they can't offer the same level of service as OcUK you do or indeed these very forums. :)

Will this monitor be ok with lower resolutions? like for example if you are using 1280x720 thru it, will it make the whole thing go full screen? (I really. really. really. hate letter box images and stuff).

REallllyyyy am torn on either this to replace one of my 20" monitors (I have 2) or getting a HDTV (32" one from OCUK) really not sure what to do :( :( :(

HI there

Yes lower resolutions still fill the screen.

HI there

I've spoken with my contact and unfortunately they cannot confirm on the HDCP until in the week, unfortunately I cannot extend the deal price that long.

I also asked about other panels with similar specs that look identical. The DGM response was they do indeed use different panels which changes from batch to batch. As such similar models may be using a different panel which could mean some are TN. I've ask DGM if future batches could contain TN panels and they say upto now they are just using PVA type panels from different sources, but the same monitor is also sold under different manufacturers as well and they cannot confirm what panel type those are as though they may look similar they could be using different internals and a different panel as they are not part of the DGM group.

DGM in their's have used two different types of panel upto now and the batch we have are PVA versions I am still trying to extract out of them exactly which PVA type we have. However because of this it means the identical looking monitor elsewhere or a similar model may indeed be using a different panel which maybe inferior or possibly superior. One thing for sure the stock at OcUK is all of the same batch and all boast the far better viewing angle PVA type panel and DGM bundle DVI cable and provide a 3yr onsite swap out service.

I've been doing some investigating and found these details:

Manufacturer: Yuraku
Model: YV24WBH1 (MB24W)
HDCP: Yes, according to this site: http://lcd24.asp2.cz/Monitor/Yuraku/Yur.Vision-YV24WBH1/Default.aspx

PDF Specs: http://www.yuraku.de/downloads/YV24WBH1%20specs.pdf

The response time states 8ms so it's probably a diffrent panel, but the HDCP info looks promising. :)

HI there

Be careful, these monitors may all look similar, even identical but according to DGM they are not the same and could contain a different panel.

Once someone confirms HDCP on the OcUK one I will add it to the description but at the moment we cannot confirm, what we can confirm is the OcUK ones are PVA panels with 6ms response time and 500 nits brightness. :)

Could anyone take pictures and post dimensions of the monitor? Thats the only thing holding me back....

HI there

The dimensions are 570 x 250 x 463 mm !!

Can someone please re-host the pictures ASAP please before they are taken down. :)

Gibbo, may be worth changing it to say "VA" panel as opposed to "PVA" as I gather you are trying to confirm which type of Vertical Alignment (VA) panel it is being used here....either PVA (Samsung's technology, also extended to S-PVA), or MVA (from the likes of AU Optronics and CMO etc - also extended to P-MVA and S-MVA.....

anyway, complicating things now, but from what i gather, DGM have said they do use a VA panel, and your images certainly suggest this too :) Just whether it's a Samsung S-PVA (as in Dell 2407WFP etc) or MVA from someone else, probably AUO P-MVA (as in BenQ FP241W) if it was

Hi there

Well to me that sounds promising. So this has either got the same panel as the DELL 2407WFP or the BenQ FP241W from what your saying and both of those panels are exceptionally well liked and perform great. I will take your advice and change the description to say VA though as I cannot get confirmation of whether its a Samsung or AU Optronics but DGM did mention AU Optronics so I am guessing it is most likely that.

That is my guess based on the specs. It is clearly VA of some sort, just thought it was worth changing this in the listed spec to avoid any confusion if it is S-PVA or P-MVA....either way is good and at the end of the day, as long as it performs well it doesn't matter! :) If DGM mentioned AUO, good chance it's their panel a la BenQ FP241W :D

HI there

From what they were saying they have used two VA type panels, but were unable to clarify which one we had but they mentioned AU Optronics.

They did also mention that the other models that look identical to this one is nothing to do with DGM and therefor they could be using a completely different panel again, which goes to say that even though they look identical our competitors maybe selling something that uses a completely different panel. Plus the fact DGM bundle the DVI cable makes this the better buy! :)

What I shall do is with every batch that arrives I shall get one out to make sure it is a VA style panel with good viewing angles. That way if we get a batch where they are TN panels I can set them up as a seperate product on the website. This way OcUK customers can be guaranteed to get a VA panel which is something our competitors do not offer. :)

I've seen enough :)

How long is the offer on for & do you have plenty of units?
Will be ordering on pay day along with a 3870 or 8800 (30th nov)

HI there

Got 500 in, sold 60pc today. Got another 500 available, all 1000 are of the same batch. After that I will check to see if they are still VA panels we get as stated above.

LOL. I had this discussion with someone a few days ago. A conclusion was not reached.

The Distance Selling Regulations state that you have 7 days to recieve and inspect the item. It DOES NOT state that you can open up the item, use it for all its worth, then on the 6th day, send the item back. As you may imagine, this policy would become open to some serious abuse if it were the case that you could use and abuse the item for 6 days before returning it.

The item should be returned in resaleable condition, unopened and in the original packaging so that it may be resold to another customer. If you decide to open up the item and use it, you may be charged a re-stocking fee. This allows the seller to sell the item as a B-Grade product, at a reduced price and still not make a loss on the item.

I must stipulate though, that some shops, in the name of customer service, will allow you to return an item that has been used, ie. they offer the 'try before you commit to buying the item' policy.

The question is, what is OCUK's stance on this?

Hi there

I am not 100% sure on this kind of stuff as I don't get involved in the actual T&C's etc. etc.

What I will say is that if any forum member purchases this monitor on the weekend special, then feel free to use it but if your only going to trail period it then leave the protective films in place and don't lock the stand in place. Keep the packaging and accessories in good condition and the monitor too and if your not happy with it then feel free to send it back to OcUK within the DSA period.

If you however take it out of the box, destroy the packaging, damage the panel or loose the accessories or any of the latter three, then we obviously won't accept it back. However if you do take care of the product and send it back in the same condition as you recieved it then we would have no issues taking it back under the 7 day DSA period.

Gibbo,

I want to order the following graphics card along with this monitor:

EVGA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Superclocked "Crysis Edition" GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (512-P2-E802-AR-CrysisUK)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-041-EA

I've heard it has been delayed a number of times coming into stock and these problems could continue. If another card comes into stock that I want, will I be able to amend my order and keep the low price on this monitor?

Hi there

Don't order EVGA, they are giving terrible communication and service at the moment in regard to 8800 GT's.

We have very large volume of BFG 8800 GT OC and OC2 in stock Monday. Also PNY and Gainward should show up Monday as well. :)

Hi there

I never spotted a light sensor on the one I was using. I remember reading it in the manual where it was basically mentioning some models may have DVI, speakers and light sensor all of which are optional.

Now the one I was using I make no recall of seeing a sensor anywhere or anything in the OSD options regarding one.

So Tizor you sure its actually got one as I do not think they have.

I have a quick question about the VGA and DVI inputs, can you hook up two devices and switch between them? For example I have my PC which I would hook up via DVI and an Xbox 360 which I would hook up by VGA.

Also what resolutions does it support, can it display 1360x768 (WXGA).

Was going to buy myself one for my birthday in Jan as my 17" videoseven I bought back in September 2005 from OcUK has a very bad problem of image persistance at the top where window bars are, it seems to be getting worse over time. This one looks great and should be a nice upgrade.

Hi there

Yes you can hook up two devices and switch between them.

Not sure on the resolution support but I can't see it been any problem.

Gibbo, I'm going down to the shop on Monday morning to buy the parts for my new rig, what's the chances of me getting this monitor at the this price and will i be able to pick up an 8800GT while i'm there?

Also can someone comment and possibly show pictures of this monitor gaming at 1680 x 1050, Does it look as good as a 1680 x 1050 TFT would? It seems to be the only question that's not been answered yet!

HI there

Our BFG 8800 GT delivery will arrive between 1pm-3pm Monday. What I can do is reserve you an 8800 GT as long as its a BFG one and I will honor the weekend special price on the monitor for you as well for when you come to collect Monday afternoon. Hope thats acceptable? :)
