BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

...
[*]The OcUK monitor has a smaller dot pitch than the Samsung (text appears quite small) and I was after a screen that was easy to read from as I do a lot of coding and my eyes take a battering so the Samsung suited me better in this regard as it has the resolution of a 20" monitor but displayed at 22".

Thats the one that gets me. I like larger fonts and dont particularly wish to have to use the zoom feature on Internet Explorer.

I'm on a 19" CRT right now, I am using 1024x768. The text on the OCUK 24" monitor must be tiny in comparison.

It's a matt screen and the bezzel is glossy. if you look hard enough and in the right lighting you will see your reflection in the screen but this is no where near as bad as a glossy screen would be.

oops

Sorry mate i thought you were asking about the DGM (didn't read propperly doh!) and my comment was about the DGM. The Sammy i believe is the glossy type screen and are very reflective, although this didn't put me off buying a Samsung 40" M87 for the lounge :)

All clear now Pumaz :)

Good old google AR coating = Anti-reflective :)

Is the coating on the outside of the LCD and can it be rubbed off when cleaning ?

well, im sitting about an arm and a half away (scientific i know:p) from my 24 inch, and i can read it perfectly:)

gibbo, if i purchased this in store and there were many dead pixels could i return?
aparently acording to DGM website (and iso standards) its anything over 9 dead pixels on the screen.

The AR coating can't be rubbed off, but you should only ever wipe a screen with a verry slightly damp (water) soft spectacle type cloth.

Thats the same sort of distance I am sitting from my monitor, right now.

Does text look ok/clear at a lower resolution of say 1680x1050, on this 24" DGM?

its not bad. its not as sharp as a 22" at native and the text is a bit rounded, but then is blowing that up by 19%, the same as a 22" being around 21% larger than a 20" at the same resolution and of course, not being as sharp.

at native, a 24" screen is smack bang in the middle of them both. text isnt as small as it is on a 20", but smaller than a 22". with a pixel density of 8107p/sq.in, id say the 24" are pretty much spot on at native 1920x1200:)

.... pondering... pondering... what to do... should I... shouldnt I...

I DONT KNOOOOOOOOOW :(
Can we get really high res pics of the screen? I would like to see typical IE/Firefox text on webpages.

Sorry to repost the question

When software 1:1 mapping is used on the OcUK 24" is there a single line of compressed pixles on the edge of the black bar that looks like a solid line of pixels ? or are the edges perfect ?
