BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Also happens if I switch inputs on the monitor when I go back to DVI their is no signal

hard to tell actually. it could be the monitor. or the graphics card. i noticed when i first plugged mine in i had no signal, had to reboot the pc to find the monitor. but i have a strange problem with my graphics card thats hard to explain. when you change resolutions and my tv is off (the sony 40w2000, conected via dvi > hdmi) i loose signal to the monitor (dvi OR vga, happened with my dell as well) untill i turn the tv on. very strange. i have an 8800gtx btw.

westie17 monitors will fall in price. obviously as technology progresses. jan sales may see some good deals as they will try and shift old models.

So if i bought this i could use the PC with VGA and a X360 with DVI, as my Gfx card does'nt support DVI.

Does anyone think that the other 24" monitors would come down in price much after Xmas?

Correct, and swap with a click of a button.

Why wait for other monitors when this one is so great? Doubt anything is going to come down that cheap in the next 6 months.

You have not been paying attention to what I have been saying.

The person I originally replied to was choosing over a Samsung and this OcUK for gaming. I said the samsung as it has lower response time and various other features that the OcUK does not. The VA (it is not a PVA as that is not confirmed) is better than TN for viewing angles and some other specific features. the cost of the OcUK is also great. I prefer the Samsung for my needs. I would still purchase the Samsung given the choice of this and the OcUK one now.

There is no ghosting on this VA panel... that has been confirmed by multiple users. The ony features the OCUK monitor lacks is 1:1 scaling, which can be performed via software and er... that's about it really.

The 24" VA is a vastly superior panel and for the money is a MUCH better buy considering the average prices of VA panels... anyone who says otherwise is mad.

Was actually trying out CSS and Condion Zero late last night.

I even went to 1280x800 just to see what CZ looked like, and I couldnt see any ghosting, lag or any other problems.

I actually had easier times doing headshots and stuff than on my dell 2007, not sure why, maybe the size or something (I noticed it was even easier at 1920x1200 :P)

HI there

Anyone confirmed HDCP compliant yet?

Its now on TWO, it won't be going any lower for a long time, after speaking with DGM today in regard to demand, they can literally only supply us about 300 units per week which is hardly enough to meet the current demand.

Ok crunch time... should I or shouldnt I.

Here are my fears.

1) High resolution. Great for desktop. But if I want to play Crysis Im a little concerned.

Can I play games at a lower resolution with 1:1 software mapping? Does this introduce a little bit of stretch or is it true 1:1?

2) Non Native resolutions, is the quality good despite non native resolution in 3D Games?

3) 1920 x 1200. I like big fonts, but Im guessing the font size at this res will be quite small (albeit stretched on a bigger monitor). I know you can increase font size in Windows generally, but this will not apply to some web pages which will always display small font sizes regardless of what Windows environment font size is.

Any thoughts on these people?

1:1 pixel mapping can be done thru drivers, though to (ME) it looks ok running lower res on this monitor (not as good though obviously).

As for the res, its fine to me, not much different than my 20" monitor... at least to me its perfectly fine. I say go for it. If you order offline you can send it back within 7 days for a full refund!

The only software 1:1 mapping available is 1600x1200, any lower 4:3 will be stretched into that space and any 16:10 resolutions will fill the entire screen.

2) Non Native resolutions, is the quality good despite non native resolution in 3D Games?

Very good.

Fonts won't be stretched, in fact they'll be about the same as on a 20" widescreen or 17" 4:3 because the size and resolution have gone up.
