BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

I don't know what OcUK's is but digimate say they are complient with ISO 13406-2, I don't know what it is for the 24" but for a res of 2560x1600 it states that max 6 defects so 1920x1200 should be same or less.

EDIT: sorry its max defects within a 5x5 grid, and 16 for entire screen at 2560x1600 so should definately be less. Although I believe that is for stuck pixels not dead, although if I'm wrong somebody feel free to correct.

Id be more miffed with bright green stuck pixels all over my screen than dead ones with no colour which you wouldn't really notice.

Fair enough although I have one stuck pixel on bright red (but doesn't show itself on white) but its practically impossible to see, I think a dead pixel would stand out more myself, I can only see it if I put the entire screen on a black background and look closely for it.

Received mine this morning all working well except when i try and use DVI the screen just goes mental it shakes and goes back to front and everythings orange. But when i set the resolution down it's fine, im guessing it's coz i have an old card (9800PRO) and it cant handle higher resoulitions over DVI right?

Everything works fine over VGA though.

@westie17 sorry to hear your having problems :(

@james.miller
Thanks your helpful as usual :) i can't tell you how many time i've nearly hit Buy then i think of something and then come running back here :D

I see that people posted in previous replys that HDCP is yet to be confirmed could you or anybody explain what that is in idiot terms.

Thanks

I still think it is unconfirmed, the problem is hardly anyone has any HDCP compliant equipment and even then HDCP is not always required for playback. HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection - it is basically DRM for media from the source to your monitor (previously no matter what DRM, you could record the signal as it was going out to the display). The fact that no one has any equipment to test it shows that it's not exactly an essential feature at this current time.

Hey guys I have been running this panel for 2 days now and it really is great. The image is bright, sharp and yes, it’s sort of exciting especially watching video or playing Half Life 11.
As for the viewing angles; what viewing angles, you can more or less view this screen anywhere from the front without losing too much detail or colour.

Being one of the older generations I can remember when you saw a “Q” and joined it not knowing what was on offer but you eventually bought it all the same. This is virtually what I did on Sunday while looking for a third monitor and I am glad I did. The reviews by Baddass and Gibbo were really informative and spot on. The L2442W makes my Samsung 913B and Viewsonic 910B look dull by comparison.

I have to give knock one point off for a red sub-pixel stuck on black. This doesn’t affect my viewing and I suppose I have been very lucky with my purchases in the past because they were 100% pixel perfect.
Therefore my rating is 9/10

Reading reviews on different panels from different suppliers seems to indicate that they vary from batch to batch as totally different views are expressed by buyers from different outlets. This isn’t very helpful when trying to decide on one manufacture over another.
What I can say is that the L2442W 24 panel that OcUK are selling is a very good buy (especially at the price I paid for it).
The stand is OK on a firm surface but I can see that on a flimsy desk it might wobble a bit when typing.
The blue LED is bright and I have the same problem with a US Blue Tooth car hands free device. I think that the LED’s must need a certain voltage to light and that means BRIGHT or nothing. My solution is to make a pinhole in a tiny bit of black plastic insulation tape and stick it over the LED. Then you see it or you don’t if you get my meaning.
