BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Most annoying site in the world, the PIN is very ambiguous and doesn't seem to be accepted no matter what characters I put in (can't tell if some are I or 1).

Anyone tried using nvidia control panel for 1:1scaling on this monitor? When I go into control panel the actual option isn't there :S used to be there as an option when using a samsung though =/

I got my monitor saturday, very quick delivery as usuall from overclockers. So far it has been great for games, although on some the sides get chopped off unless you use 1680x1050 resolution.
Here is some pics of it running CoD4 with all the settings as high as i could put them on a 8800gtx running at 1680x150 resolution.

Many thanks The Drunksole.

Really tempted to get one of these.

Although now thinking a higher graphics card than a 8800GT is needed to bring this beast out :p.

Does anyone that has bought, wish they'd have spent more on something like the Dell 2407?

I guess its a case of an unknwon brand for me.

Does anyone have any regrets?

I came from a Dell 2007WFP, and no I dont wish I'd spent the money. The Dell 20" is good, and this 24" is comparable as far as Im aware. Colours arent perfect out the box but more than acceptable once sorted, it is (was) cheaper than the 20" and I feel whilst a Dell 2407 (NOT HC) may be slightly better due to inputs etc, its not worth £150-200 extra!

On top, this 24" unknown monitor has a perfectly even backlight, which my more expensive Dell didn't! The only downside I've had is that I have a single stuck pixel when the screen is black, but tbh its literally one and in normal use is virtually unnoticable unless you look for it, from my normal sitting distance, and the warranty application process can be a little obtuse.

But hey, its a great monitor, and for those who got one with no issues, at the original weekend price, its a bloody bargain, and it's still very very cheap now, due to the type of wide angle panel used, and due to good movement performance/response time, suitable for nearly all gamers except for hardcore people who would still be using a higher end CRT anyway!

@ Syke AFAIK the Acer has a weaker TN panel (worse viewing angles etc)

Thanks for taking the time to write that - much appreciated.

It's a shame that I missed out on the weekend deal, but as you say, even now it's a relative bargain for a screen of this (apparent) quality.

I'll go and buy one from the store this afternoon.

Russ.
