Guys, please remember that no matter how much you may not have liked her, she was a human being with a family. That family are grieving at the loss of a loved one.

Some posts show such a lack of respect for the fact that someone has died, it utterly disgusts me.

Love her or hate her, she was a human being and her death should be treated with respect.

Absolutely, dignity is paramount

You have to remember that her nasty party destroyed the livelihood of hundreds of thousands of people.

You either love her or hate her, there's no sitting on the fence as far as I'm concerned. In fact I'm happy that people are saying their true feelings now, we're all different people with different opinions.

Yeah, because people were really holding back on their opinions of her before today.

I don't think anybody denies how polarised people's views of her are for any number of valid reasons, but I hardly think that justifies some of the tasteless comments that have been made here. It's perfectly easy to voice your opinion with a shred of decorum.

Some of the bile in this thread is worse than when genocidal dictators have died, which is more than a little troubling I find.

Even the worst people throughout human history, where dignified upon the death of an opponent who in the most basic form is a human being like the rest of us.

To say that you are glad someone has died, is callous at best and disgraceful.

Anyone would think she commit genocide - facts show that she did what she had to do.

RIP.

Err yes, between Thatcher, Reagan and Gorbachev. The break up of the soviet communist block largely happened because of their actions.

There are still friction points in other areas but the threat of a global cold war turning hot are much reduced.

The satellite nations of the communist bloc have much to be grateful for Margaret Thatcher in my opinion.

I disagree with your final statement, but I think it's too early to start waving your arms around and showing the public how much you hate her.

I don't like her, her political standpoint is wrong and selfish as far as I'm concerned - completely goes against everything I believe in.

But she was a human being at the end of the day, we have to respect that.

No, unfortunately not.

:(

Its fully deserved

So lets give the army\nurses\navy\police personal ect a state funeral as well.

It's on the Beeb. It isn't technically a state funeral because that would require a motion to be passed in the Commons, which I'd imagine is rather unlikely.

Frankly, I'm not so hot on the idea. As much as I admired her I fear it'll do little more than cause an enormous amount of trouble, this thread is a microcosm of it.

If they do march her through the streets there will be trouble.

State funeral - does that mean we are gettign a day off work?

That would depend on the bidding process and the package the companies will offer.

In all seriousness while I despise pretty much everything she stood for ... at least she stood for those things. None of our current top-level politicians do. They dodge and dart between policies purely in an attempt to stay popular and save face.
She was the first female PM in the UK, that is an achievement worth recognising.

No that she has passed away (and I am even glad it was in old-age and peaceful) I just hope someone inherits those huge brass balls of hers. A socialist ideally ;)

I'm pretty annoyed that the bbc took the full one o'clock news to report this, yes it's a major story but its bad journalism to not report anything else for an hour. Wonder what shocking Tory policies will be announced today
