Batman: Arkham Asylum

The game looks pretty good. I didn't realise that it was coming to PC as well. Big shame about the delay, at least it's not as long as resident evil or gta4.

Should be playing this today:mad:

Thing is i also own a x360, But it runs so awesome maxed out at 1920x1200 on my pc

Not sure why the delayed PC release is coming as a shock to some of you as it's been known for a few weeks. It's even mentioned on the first page of this thread.

Agree that it is a pain though. Demo definitely made me more excited for it. :(

Hmm £24.95 in 3 weeks for PC or £34.95 now to play on a console. I think i'll wait for what's involved unless one of the high street places tempts me over the weekend with a decent offer.

Pirate posts help request for "glitch" in official Edios forums ahead of games launch

PC games are some of the most pirated software out there, as players look for ways to get the game they want without having to pay the $50 asking price most new games demand.

Eidos, the publisher behind the PC version of Batman: Arkham Asylum, has introduced a deliberate glitch into the game to catch and foil pirates who try and crack the game to play without paying. One person who pirated the game, and was brazen enough to post a help request on the official Edios forums, ahead of the games actual launch mind you, has brought the glitch to the surface.

A poster going by the handle Cheshirec_the_cat posted in a thread requesting help with a problem in the game. The poster wrote, "I've got a problem when it's time to use Batman's glide in the game. When I hold , like it's said to jump from one platform to another, Batman tries to open his wings again and again instead of gliding. So he fels down in a poisoning gas. If somebody could tel me, what should I do there."

An Edios admin going by Keir responded to the thread before it was closed writing, "The problem you have encountered is a hook in the copy protection, to catch out people who try and download cracked versions of the game for free. It's not a bug in the game's code, it's a bug in your moral code.

Now that is a good version of DRM. This may be one of the best games of the year, not just for gameplay, graphics and atmosphere, but also the handling of pirates.

The copy protection used has already been bypassed (twice) though so it's no longer a problem - like all copy protections!

Can't wait for the 18th guys.

I've had the Steam version purchased and ready to download since I played the demo. Someone earlier in the thread asked why anyone would use a gamepad with this game if they're on PC - simple - it's actually better with a gamepad. I've tried both mouse and keyboard & my windows 360 controller and the combat is vastly more intuitive with the controller.

Anyway, I haven't been this excited to play a game in years. The reviews for the console versions are fantastic (metacritic 92) so will be spending a considerable amount of time on this (played the demo like 30-40 times)

I have to say the anti piracy triggers are a great idea. I encountered grapple glitch and couldn't find a fix for it, but by that time I was already having too much fun. So I've now actually pre-ordered the game because its that damn good. I wonder how many other people have decided to buy the game because of the anti piracy triggers?

I'll still buy it but these copy protection schemes almost makes me laugh out loud. Almost every copy protection like we all know have been busted. I'm not telling anyone anything new when I say there is entire teams dedicated to cracking it without being interested in the game in the slightest. The only thing I personally require is for it to be on Steam as that's where I buy all my games. Solid media is so over for me :P

Digital downloads is the way forward :p I can get 1GB in less than 10mins and I have no care for occupying games on my minimalist selves :p

Pre-ordered mine at £17 and it has just been dispatched. Showing as in stock at another online retailer too now. Looks like the release was brought forward by a week?

Yeah looks like it's in stock - seeing it is a GFWL title it may have the new activation system that stops it being played til 18th though

Yeah so can i - but most digital download sites including steam are too expensive these days - Batman AA will be @£29.99 on launch online download...pre-order only and get it for £17.99 - know which one I'd go for.
