Batman Arkham City - Thread

Jesus people over on the Arkham City forums are out for blood about this DX11 thing. Total madness, I understand it should not have happened after the extra 5 weeks, but those guys over on that forum need to chillax big time.

It's absolutely laughable. Given the distinct lack of "excellent" games these days compared to years past, you'd have thought they'd just play on regardless.

I had a quick bash last night, and even with Dx11 off it still looks brilliant and plays slickly.

Agreed I had a quick bash and it played great without DX11. In fact somewhere someone did examples of DX9 vs DX11 screenshots and tbh the difference is not worth all the fuss. Even though I am holding out for DX11 as I want to play it at its full glory, but I can wait I have lots to do. One thing that I still don't get is this Catwoman stuff, meant to be unlocked in the PC versions but the menu does not allow us to choose Catwoman like the console version does.

Just called The Hut - they don't have the stock to fill my preorder (placed on the 10th of October) They should have it "soon"

Hmmm that would be why my order status hasnt changed either.:(
I ordered on the 5th of October I think. Wondered if it was to do with the Blu-Ray bundle holding things up.

Oh well back to Skyrim it is then.....;)

I notice it has Steam achievements, but GMG says it uses Games for Windows Live, but I guess it is also a Steamworks game? Also, I'm assuming the Catwoman missions come with it yes?

The achievements are the same and are just unlocked on both lists (Steam/Live) when you get one.

As for the catwoman thing I bought a code from the MM didnt think about the Extra content and at the start of the game I played as catwoman so I assume the content is in there aswell and she'll just pop up again later in the story.

Catwoman DLC on PC is built into the game all users get it. It uses Steamworks + GFWL + Securom if you bought it on Steam otherwise it only uses GFWL + Securom.

Its also missing 6 achievements from the console versions Rocksteady removed from the PC which is a little lame really.

Retail DVD version is also a contender for longest install time ever after almost an hour its only installed 780Mb....only 17GB to go!!

Installing this **** is like pulling teeth. Steam and the endlessly non function GFWL running simultaneously. Lets not mention the game crashing on exit. Abomination of a release in terms of installation.

I got this game for free (nvidia card) and still feel ripped off. Lets hope it plays OK and doesn't crash all the time.

For sure, and they wonder why people pirate when they have convoluted installations like this. I also crash on exit, along with some strange happenings when GFWL & Steam are running.

Have uninstalled GFWL and decided to just wait for a scene release. It's crazy that I should even have to think like this after buying a game ... :(

Sorry but something is wrong somewhere with that install time. I did mine via a USB dvd drive and it was just about 15-20 mins total to install from disc. I thought that was to long

Played this for about an hour last night and its very good. The combat is extremely polished and the gamepad has very nice support in the game also, like all other GFWL games. DX11 mode does run like turd though sadly. (although looks very good)

The FXAA in this game is also exceptionally high and doesn't seem to smear or blur textures like in other games like skyrim.

I can't really tell the difference between dx11 and dx9 except the framerate and slight stuttering in dx11. The PhysX interaction is cool.
