Batman Arkham City - Thread

It sounds like another 'GTA IV' to me, some people seem to have some real issues whilst others (include myself) have had no problems at all playing the game....

Been collecting them since 2007 all UK retail apart from Dirt3 (no UK retail @ launch there is now though), and a few digital only titles like AOE Online, MS Flight, Section 8 Prejudice, Tinker, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Toy Soldiers, Where's Waldo, Mahjong Wisdom, Gotham City Impostors, Game Room, TRON Evolution (UK is digital download only you can get a retail version from Amazon US though), Mortal Kombat Arcade, Virtua Tennis 4, Dark Void (only the GFWM version is GFWL the others are just GFW), Osmos (only GFWM is GFWL the others are not).

The only GFWL titles I have not bought are:

AFL LIVE GOTY (you can buy for £29.99 from GFWM UK marketplace no retail version). Released a few weeks ago uses the same game engine as Dark Souls PC. Think I will pass @ £29.99!!!

Bioshock2 Russian Version
Blacklight Tango Down
Carneyvale Showtime (waiting for sales to buy this but they never do!)
Hour Of Victory (1 day I will buy this cheap but its terrible apparently)

Legend Of Galactic Heroes (Namco published this using GFWL in Japan only. If you can find it anywhere nowadays it will cost you well over £120 for the PC-DVD. I looked to buy in 2008 it was £120 then. Ultra rare GFWL game few own this & all text is in japanese anyway!)

Rugby League LIVE (you have to order from Australia so its pricey). This is the game before AFL LIVE GOTY both are aussie rules football type games.

Shadowrun (never going to buy all achvs are online only & even though the game has cross platform vs 360 players its pretty old & empty nowadays)

World Of Goo (waiting for a sale its still £14.99 & only the GFWM version is GFWL).

Apart from that I own the rest since whenever they first came out!!!

Also mate do not forget Battle vs Chess its an excellent game & only £9.99 on amazon right now in a sale (dual format PC/MAC as well) you can buy a digital version from the publisher for 3 times as much but they are not allowed to sell it anywhere else digitally or in US so only available in EU due to a legal battle with Interplay which has been going on for years now which is why few have heard of it as they are not allowed to advertise either :eek: Its a really decent chess game though & has good gfx for the backgrounds ;)

NVM, found it :o

EDIT 2:

nope turns I found it, but I can't do anything with it (under the DLC option when you right click on BAC).

I have launched the game but nothing is there/happens regarding HQ DLC.


Any ideas?

Had to use GWL :rolleyes:

Was only using offline profile, so had to go through all that **** to get online and activate my account, so I lost all my game saves (not too bothered, as I have completed the game twice, and will be going through it again at some point) and now when I enter the code to redeem the DLC, I get status code 8015400c error, googled it and I have to contact customers service, cba with that ****.............

Thank god I only paid £2.71 for it.

Won't be buying any more games, which have GWL attached to it. Biggest pile of xxxx ever!

now it appears to be dll...................... WTF?!

So yeah, all sorted out now except my game saves are lost.

Completed HQ DLC the other day.

It was pretty good, as said by AWPC, more of the same thing but with mostly Robin this time and the ending was a bit **** (could have been left on a good cliff hanger)

Didn't take very long to complete though, less than 6 hours if even anywhere near that.

Don't think it is worth the full price, but for £2.75 or whatever it was, it certainly is!
 
Can any AMD users tell me which drivers runs this well in DX9? I know you should update to latest but I hear 12.6 isn't great.

I'm on 12.1 still (hate updating drivers, only update when new games don't work well and AC is running quite poorly with low frame rate and gpu usage.
 
Having problems activating this game after reinstalling windows again,
Steam say i can't as i've activated too many times.
Is there a way around this or do i have to buy the game again?

I thought with having the game on Steam i wouldn't need to activate
it more than once.
Or am i missing something?

Its not Steam its Securom who are saying you have activated too many times its limited to 5 times per 10 different machines not sure how you have gone through 50 activations :eek: contact WB Games they are the only ones who can help Steam sell the game & do not offer support at all on it.

I bought this in the summer sale and only recently started playing it, oh my, what a bloody awesome game it is. There's so much to do, I love the fighting, just getting around the city makes you feel like a badass.

My girlfriend liked the look of it so much she went and got it on Xbox as well so she could play :p

great game indeed but the random stuttering really kills it for me :(
 
Anyone know the cheapest place to grab Arkham Asylum? Cheapest I can find is £9.95.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. I actually bought Arkham City from GMG when it released and forgot about it completely...

I just bought it off Steam lol. Oh well, I bet the DLC was over £15.

As title - this is really annoying me. Downloaded game through getgames when it first came out and have hardly played it as the performance in DX11 was bad at the time. Now I've updated to 670 SLI cards I thought I would revisit it, but the performance is still all over the place which seems poor for 670 SLI.

How do I update to the latest patch. When I launch the game I get a games for Windows Live message, it searches for DLC but no updates are applied. I have no idea what version of the game I'm running. If I go into the 'binaries', Win32 folder of the install and right click on the 'BatmanAc' it says file version '1.0.0.0'

This suggests it's not patched? How on earth do i patch it to the latest version?

Yeah it does download the latest patch as soon as you login, but DX11 is still broken on AC and will never get a fix now. The last patch was mainly to fix the save issues. Now AWPC will tell you it was just the Steam versions that had save issues but in fact the retail versions did as well. Although not everyone had the problem. Also some can play dx11 OK, but many can't, including me. But it looks ace using dx9 anyway so not fussed.

Yeah they never changed the version number on the .exe GFWL is the same as xbox live, you can't connect and play while connected if you don't have the patch, it will tell you that you can only play in offline mode.
