*** Battlefield 1 ***

I take it that means you won't subscribe to the podcast :p I get that it's just a game but don't understand why the developer felt the need to open this historical can of worms other than in the interest of lining their pockets. There is nothing tactically or strategically glamorous about this war but I bet EA are hoping it makes some sick kill streak videos on YouTube.

What makes this game so special that you have to comment on it? There are hundreds of games before this that are based on historical events, mostly very horrible events.

There are also thousands of films that do just the same but I don't see any pretentious comments in any of those forums. But if it makes you feel better to come in and look down upon and judge people purely based on a video game then fair enough. I'm sure all the things in your life are based on purity and good will to all.

War is bad, I think we all agree but It is much better that we play games in fantasy setting that start a third world war. Shame on everyone in here for even talking about such an evil game!

What a douche.

If it was up this guy, no game would ever be made with any sort of gunplay in it, because aahhhhh meeerrr gaaaahhhd guns kill people in real life too.

No war films either, or films that show a plane or car crash... or pretty much any tragedy.

Theirs no way of course that the game could also perhaps put perspective on what it was like for a new generation.
Seeing as the previous breakdown deceibes how accurate some of the game is, we might have a load of younger eyes. Who have not played a game from this era before.

yh

he even hated Captain America: Civil War

This whole argument is pathetic. I didn't hear anyone scream up about world of warships, which simulated ww2 naval warfare, which as my sailor grandad would attest, could also be horrific at times.

I have my great grandads ww1 medals in my drawer. He suffered during the war. Ending up dying of shrapnel wounds. I dont think it's an insult or anything to his memory in any way whatsoever. Ridiculous the whole thing.

I tell you what, Attila was a massacre loving despot. Lets ban Total War: Attila. Give me a break.

Why is this argument coming up now when weve had many games and in particular other medias 'glorify' war just to make money. Yes I guess there might be a question of taste but allow the market to dictate that...

Man I miss the 90s when stuff like boycotting Mortal Kombat at least made some stupid sense...

ps3ud0

Wasn't Medal of Honour all about WW2?

Many may not agree but I'd definitely prefer if this was an alternate reality setting to add a bit of variety. I wasn't really bothered about a new BF this time around but changing the era makes it more interesting...but I'm just a sucker for sci-fi alternate realities of real world events.

It's a fine line though, what about a game based on 9/11, would that be ok ?

Most of the early BF games had maps based on real historic events. Also Day of Defeat, company of Heroes, Medal of Honor to name but a few. No one has ever questioned this before. World has gone mad. Anyway whatever, like anything else if you don't like it stay away.
