Tanks can be very vulnerable, especially the light flanker. It's great at farming infantry as long as you have an escort. It was speed nerfed since beta though which means that when your brainless team decides 2/3s of the flags are not enough and zerg forward, you'll get pincer-ed by assault class players as you can't keep up. 2 assault players can take you down very quickly and a squad will smash you in seconds.

Suppression is definitely back with vengeance in BF1, but even when you're not suppressed you can find yourself walking up behind an unsuspecting camper, put the barrel of your model 10 hunter shotgun to their head pull the trigger and miss. Then 5 mins later you're storming a bunker and 4 kills in 4 shots.. The longer you stay on a server the better the hit reg seems to get which suggests to me that there are sync issues when you join a server (which reminds me a lot of previous titles). It's no worse than SWBF though..

They got discord now? I thought they were teamspeak for life (got the server address for them), if so, I can finally uninstall teamspeak!

But but but.... the tanks are OP in bf 1!!!! This just shows DICE catering towards the casuals even more. Tanks were fine as they were (at least everything about them except for their damage + splash damage anyway), as you said, team up (and have a team that aren't all snipers...) and they are **** easy to take down but the COD generation like to be able to take down tanks within minutes/seconds all by themselves...

Can't say that I've really ever had any hit reg. issues with battlefront (other than the insane hit box range for the light sabre attacks, a bit like the cavalry's sabre sword in bf 1, although it isn't as bad... :p) but then I've never really had any issues with previous bf titles for this, other than the dusting on aircrafts...
 
I would blame the "hit reg" on me being old and slow and taking time to adjust to the server's latency, but I can play 3 rounds on one server, first one starts badly then gets better, second 2 I'm getting starting to get the hackusations. Switch server and it's like groundhog day.

Quick question guys, I just changed my router from the Virgin Superhub2 to the Asus AC88U, all is well however I notice within BF1 my ping has changed, normally I found servers with a ping of 25-30, now it's showing 50-52, any reason why?
 
Is the friends list buggered for anyone else? I can see people online sometimes, but between me and my friends we can't always see each other online in Origin properly.

might be a coincidence, all the european servers are 40-50ms ping for me atm to. I'm on virgin media if that helps you any.

Pings for me have been in the 45-55 range for all European servers since the middle of last week, normally I'm getting ~25ms to good servers. I'm on VM too with an ASUS RT-N66U behind my 'super'hub.
 
Been playing BF1 now for the best part of four weeks on & off, though I've been enjoying multiplayer mostly.

It really is now one of them games that keeps you going just to be able to level up, rank up & to be able to unlock more weapons. The last few nights especially where I have only reached up to profile level 8 and still on scout level 0, it's been every so frustrating with only being really able to use the SMLE MKIII (even though it's one of the better scout rifles) and constantly up against the likes of the veteran players with much better techniques & weapons. However saying that, I finally reached up to profile level 9 & scout level 1 last night and at last being able to unlock the Gewehr M.95... Wow what a remarkably nice change from the SMLE MKIII, I went for the carbine variant and straight away it goes to show with how better I progressed through some of the last games I had last night. Better progression with quick, long distance shots combined with faster reloading.

I've also been progressing through the medic class when I can as well, as I like the Cei-Rigotti Optical a lot too due mostly having the semi-automatic fire facility available... as well as throwing out medic packs to heal myself when need be too :)

A lot of the guns in this and previous battlefield games can take time to understand how to use them effectively, but across the board BF games have always made a good gun available from the start. One thing that stands out in BF1 is how weapons fit specific niches (specifically range and number of people you can take down before needing to reload), which will make a good gun seem bad when you are starting out. Myself, I'm not a sniper, and tend to focus on CQC when not vehicle whoring, so recently I've been running the model 10 hunter on every map, even the wide open ones.
My logic is that if I get picked off by snipers running across a field, it's my fault for allowing myself to get in that position, and even if I'd taken a bolt action I would probably have lost out to a good sniper anyway, but once I've close the distance, and I'm in that trench or bunker, I'm causing havok..
Much to everyone's annoyance I also liberally use gas, as my weapon of choice is in it's element when hip-fired so no penalty there, and the range you can throw coupled with the running speed means that if you do get shot at when crossing a field, you can lob the smoke far enough to either cause the sniper to need to mask up (rendering him useless bar pistol and melee), or at least provide some smoke cover.

tl;dr There aren't many guns that really suck and the starting ones aren't them. You'll get better at using the weapons both by practice and learning the tactics that compliment the gun's niche.

Very good & informative post there, most useful to know.

You're right about the choice of weapons to start off with as well with BF1, I was meant to point out that to begin with I felt that the SMLE MKIII was a very good choice and it suited me well but then you could say with me jumping over to Medic here & there probably didn't help things, with being more up and close to the enemy and having to aim & focus a lot less too. For me I just noticed that being more focused back on scout again of the past few days and back to using the SMLE at a distance saw me struggling to keep up with the fast paced ones, and back to using the scope variant I struggled with the slower reloading and focusing back in on the scope too.

Moving forward, I intend to stick to scout for a while to pick up the pace more but possibly get into assault more as time goes on (and learn how to control the main starter weapon properly during fast paced kills... the automatico I think it is ?? I tend to always loose control with it moving upwards during fire).

Good shout out about gas grenades too - I moved over to these a few days ago and never looked back, so much better when using on certain maps with the large doors & when the enemy in numbers are waiting behind to storm in.
