Battlefield 3 RETAIL Performance Thread

Did anyone else struggle to get into the Beta?

Tbf I had the same problem with BC2 coming from BF2
 
Reinstalled Windows, redownloaded the game and tried the new CAP profiles - the stuttering has completely gone now, but I still get crashes all the time. My quit rate shown on Origin is a massive 43% because of this.

Yep Im still getting crashes too. I never got the update from Origin, apparently there was a 472MB one this morning?

Im using CAP4 with 11.10pre3. The stuttering seems to have gone now. I think it is a VRAM issue afterall as when I start a game with Ultra/High settings VRAM is at 1970. I change settings to just High but VRAM stays the same, its not until I restart the game that VRAM goes down to 1700. Somethings now quite right, I think Im asking too much form my 5850s
 
I'm Running it all on Ultra, 1920x1080 and in single player the fps jumps around, 35-60, but no visible slowdown and it look like this :-)

Q6600 @3.7Ghz
6970 2GB @910/1395Mhz
4GB DDR2

All options set to HIGH (Textures on Ultra). No Motion Blur. 4xMSAA and 16xAF and Ambient Occlusion ON. EDIT: @1920x1200 resolution.

CCC set to enhance AA - Edge Detect and Morphological AA Enabled

See's me around 35FPS +- 5FPS depending on scenario.

Looks amazing and plays stutter free. :)

Using v3 Preview Driver.

If you have MSAA on, I really recommend you turn it off. It's a framerate killer and the FXAA method looks better on transparent and alpha surfaces while running nearly ten times faster.

Thanks, but I'm confused about antialiasing post and deferred. What are they and which are the best settings? Should I leave CC settings alone too?

All on high (sbao off, shadows low, 2 aa, textures Ultra) getting 55 - 65 FPS @ 1080p.

In the beta with the same settings I would get 45 - 65 FPS. It looks a lot more detailed and seems more consistant with the FPS.

I have a MSI 6950 2gb, i7 920, 6 gig ram.

Really impressed with BF3 so far :)

11.10v3 + CAP4 is looking really good. Running all on ultra, AA post on High, 16xAF, no deferred AA, no blur and no Ambient Occlusion (don't like those last two so they are off) and getting ~100fps easy. Happy chappy. :)

Tried 2xMSAA and it killed the fps a lot! I might have to try that with deferred off and see because MSAA will probably look better. I think you need the extra VRAM for MSAA though.
 
I was getting a lot of instability not only in BF3 but in Windows 7 aswell using 11.10 pre3 + CAP4.

God rid of both and installed 11.9 + CAP4 and my system runs smoother. BF3 is the same too. My GPU usage isnt as all over the place but neither card is at 100:




This is just plain weird??
 
Playing through single player for a good few hours now using 11.10v3 + CAP4.

6870x2 (single card with duel cores)
Q9450 +3.6ghz
4GB ram

Everything on ultra apart from MSAA which is off and AA Post set to high - 1080p

Got vsync on and stays constant 60, very happy :)
