Battlefield 3 RETAIL Performance Thread

On a single R6950 TW3 at the moment, vsync and motion blur off, getting a solid 65 on most MP maps, waiting for my second card to arrive. Running at 1920x1200

On 11.10v3 preview drivers

PC graphics look at lot better than the PS3 version, at least comparing my system to the PS3.

BTW, Campaign... HOW ****ING ANNOYING ARE THOSE DOTS THAT WON'T GO AWAY!

Phenom I 9950
GTX280 @ 700/1536/1250
Low settings @ 1080p
Barely runs the game at 20-25fps

I tried the BF3 performance chart and the CPU is high than GPU (CPU bottleneck?)

Suggestions on what I can do?

Edit: Just looked at the Toms hardware 30 cards benchmarks and my card should be doing ~50fps on low settings....

Is anyone getting short intermittant pauses in MP, especially on the larger maps? Is this a network bandwidth issue or graphics related?

Framerate is fine (around 40fps), but I'm thinking that maybe ultra settings (but deffered AA, motion blur and ambient occlusion off) is too much for a 5870 1gb. Would these short pauses (about half second pauses) are be something you'd see when the card is running out of ram?

Not sure. Im playing on ultra with only deffered AA off at 1920x1200 and its smooth.

I would expect to play at ultra settings you need 1.5Gb + vram as a minimum.

So glad when I bought this 5870 I went for the 2Gb version, really meant it was top of its class when the 5870 was a flag ship card, and it also means its still in the game when it performs today like a 6950.

I will be having a 2gb 6950, in an i52500k, 8gbram, what framerates can i expect in bf3 and will it run ultra fine? Just one monitor for now btw!

READ MY POST!

If a 2Gb 5870 can do ultra 1920x1200 with msaa off, then any card of its class and above will easily do the same.

The key is the vram, you need 1.5Gb + for ultra.

Even my cpu which was a slight bottleneck in BFBC2, is more than enough for this game.

you can't run ultra textures or shadows, i have the same problem so i just dropped those 2 and it's fine now although i have ambient occlusion on high too.
