Battlefield 3 RETAIL Performance Thread

I only play at 1680 x 1050 but with GTX580 at Ultra I am hitting high 60s rarely dropping below 50 even in very heavy areas.

Single player poor,mulitplayer fantastic.
All the rumors that you need 2 x gtx580s seem rubbish.Even on multiplayer
im getting smooth 50+ fps all settings on ultra at @1920x1200.
Have not encountered any noticable stuttering.
My gtx 580 is stock,I7 2600k @4.5.
Have played 2 hours single player,4 hours multiplayer with no freezes, ctd etc.
Temps max at 65% with fan at 45 on gpu.
Can't believe was going to sell my ps3 to fund another gtx 580.
Think one gtx 580 will do me for the next couple of years.

at 1080p everything on ultra I get around 40fps, knock shadows down to high and turn off SSAO (I think its called?) it hits around 90fps. FOV at 85. 11.9 CAP4, are the 11.10 preview drivers any better? I had issues with other games the last time I tried 11.10 preview.

Also get a little stutter on mouse movement, no fps drop but can be a little annoying. Though that may be down to my crappy mouse mat clashing with my CM Sentinel advanced mouse. Still the same on other surfaces however.

Edit: Read back a page or two, will try putting shadows down to medium.

Edit2: switching shadows to medium sorted it :)

plays very nicely indeed on a 5850 High settings at 1080. which surprised me and the other observation I have made is this.. Playing on low settings this game still looks incredibly good in multi player (and it's easier to play than on ultra)
Full bells and whistles are nice but really not necessary for the eye candy. Don't worry if you can't play it on ultra you won't be missing out on much.

Plays sweet on a i7 920 @3.6 and 6gb ram on a 5850 @ stock. Much has been made of how much of a beast of a machine would be needed to play this smoothly. Most of it is nonsense. unless you want higher than 1900x1080 res.

I have to agree, my pc in sig is having no difficulties with this game.

Who said it was taxing? (Rhetorical)

I stuck with auto @ 1920x1200 becuase it set everything up nicely, all high, with ultra textures, hbao on etc etc etc... just no msaa.

It seems to be less taxing than BFBC2...

Plays great on my 5850, all on high but turned AA off. Averages about 70-90 frames, but I am only running 1400 res, which helps a lot! Was thinking of getting another 5850 and getting a bigger 120hz monitor.

Are there any 5850 crossfire users here? How does it run?

GTX580 and less than 1080p, bit of a waste isnt it?

I'm was playing the beta in 2560x1440 ultra and getting 30-50fps on Caspian.

For some reason now in the full game I get dips down to 10fps, im using the 285.62 drivers. Also still getting the green flashes

Its strange because it will be fine at around 50fps, then randomly bail to 10fps for a few seconds, then back up

Is this game CPU limited?

Apart from the MSAA, going from all Ultra settings to all Low only increases my fps from say 50 to 65. This is on a Q9550 @ 3.4ghz and 5870, on a 1080p monitor. Going from all High to all Ultra, there seems to be no difference at all.

Currently playing online at all max settings, except MSAA, motion blur and ambient occlusion disabled and getting around 40-70 fps, which is playable, but if you want to play this game seriously, you really do need 60+fps.

i5 2500k
msi 6950 2gb @ 840/1325
8gb duel channel 1600
10.9 drivers
1680x1050 (max monitor will do)
Runs smooth as silk set to ultra 40-70 fps
