Battlefield 3 RETAIL Performance Thread

When had a quick go this morning, seemed to be running about 60 to 70 but didn't feel very smooth. Turned v-sync on and felt much better.

Must say, I didn't spend much time on it, but I expected it to look better than it does....

Does anyone else feel that 80fps doesn't really feel like 80? More like 40 to me... it's buttery smooth when it gets to 100 but at 80 I can notice it being less smooth, even though it should be virtually impossible to tell.

wow look real nice them .can you tel me how you display 1and 2 gpu's fps.i downloaded afterburner but it only shows 1 gpu runing.what seting you use..thx

It's under the monitoring tab in Afterburner.

Highlight GPU 2 usage, or whatever else you want to display such as FPS under "Active hardware monitoring graphs" and tick the "Show in On screen Display"

Job done. Hope this helps.

These settings give me around 40-60 FPS online or off. That's with an i7 930 at stock. (Spec in sig was supposed to be my new rig but the motherboard was DOA so waiting for a replacement)

how are you not getting massive freezes when you spin around?? i tried the same settings but had to drop texture and shadows to high to stop it

There really needs to a FPS limited implemented into this game IMO, get the best possible smoothness out of the game.

phenom quad core

hey guys, bought the BF3 limited edition today, however i wont get my PC back for a week or so

Here are the specs

AMD phenom II X4 quad core at 3.40ghz
8 GB of ddr 3 ram
windows 7 64 bit
500gb HDD
2GB 6950

i currently game on a 20 inch samsung monitor at a resolution of 1680 x 1050

what settings will the game be playable at ? im hoping most settings on high

any idea ? thanks !!

It'll fly through on High. I'm running my 2500k and 6950 2Gb on Ultra (Motion Blur, MSAA, HBAO/SSAO off) at 1920x1080 and I get around 40-70fps in single player. The mission I just done in the tanks saw the frame rate go down a fair bit when I zoomed in with the scope, but for singleplayer is fine. Will probably go High for multiplayer.

Ok, what about the CPU, phenom quad core wont perform as well as your 2500k, should still be ok on high you think ? multiplayer may be a different story

On a 2500k, 6870 and 8GB ram, 1680 x 1050 getting between 50 and 60 fps. All high but ultra textures and particles, vsync on (bad tearing otherwise), motion blur and deffered AA off. It doesnt always feel that smooth to me tho, might try the 11.10 preview drivers.

im getting constant stuttering with an i7 2600k and single gtx 580.

1920x1080 everything on max with msaa off and the other aa on high. (getting really good frame rate arround 65fps)

this has been reported though and apparently turning hyperthreating off works or rolling back to nvidia beta drivers.

ive not tried yet as i'm in work.

exact same here on [email protected] 8gb ram and a single 580...

not tried any fixes yet as im reluctant to turn off hyperthreading...
