Battlefield 3 RETAIL Performance Thread

I get crazy stuttering with V-Sync on - dunno if that's something people have considered or not.

I seem to get it with it on and off unfortunately, so far I've read that the follow settings dumbed down to med/high should help: Shadows, Textures & SSAO. I'm going for a play with it just now anyway to see if I can find the route of the problem, I know it doesn't stutter with the 'high' preset.

A little part of me is wondering if its down to Vram usage, hitting over 2GB at 1080p...

If anyone has 16GB of memory in their system, try turning off the page file to see if that cures any stuttering.

i just purchased a 5700 and have 16gb of memory, hopefully no stuttering when i fire up!

Ran Heaven benchmark 3x today no crashes, GTX 580 880/1760 at 1.1vhz

Have you tried the card at stock? Also try manually updating punkbuster, had a few issues with it earlier.

Nope just crashes to the desktop, have to get up the control panel to close the game and i can still hear the audio

i had to do the same, but i was getting the error msg "kicked by admin"

Ok, I just switched from the latest drivers to 285.38, what a difference. No more stuttering Honest.

Strangely, when i first played the game last monday, i still had the beta 285.38's installed, no difference switching to the latest officials.

i might roll mine back then.

tho nvidia are meant to be working on new drivers apparently...

Just playd Grand Bazzar on 64 player conquest, ULTRA settings (although 2x AA, and one other setting knocked down, cant rember HSBO or something?)

Tried all manner of different settings and drivers and still get the stuttering even when the frame rate is 50+.

Even if I turn it all down its the same depite the framerate being consistenly at 60fps

Im getting decent frames, between 50 and 60fps but it looks more like Im playing at 30. I dont get any significant stutter but it just doesnt feel super smooth like 60 fps should.

Only time that happened to me was when I ran with my 470 overclocked (normally was stable, but I guess BF3 fount a flaw! haha)
