Battlefield 3 RETAIL Performance Thread

Just installing as we speak!

What settings will i need to run this well with the following rig:
i52500k
MSI z68a-G55g3 (auto OC processor to 4.2gh)
8gb Corsair Vengance 1600
h100
6950 2gb tf3 (no idea how to OC btw)

Cheers and help i want it to look as best as it can!

Mixture of Ultra and High if your playing at 1080P resolution or lower. If you want more eye candy get another 6950 and crossfire them babie, I cant stress enough how awesome CF 6950s are!

Anyone using Crossfire 4890's? What FPS you getting.. My brother is getting less FPS with crossfire than when he uses just a single 4890.

Tried using the latest CAP4 + Catalyst but not luck :(

CPU usage is average 77, gpu is around 50-60 on each card. In single, gpu is 88 and cpu is 90.. which seems odd.

Spec:

E8600 @ 4.3Ghz
4Gig Dominator 1066 Ram
Asus Rampage Socket 775

Radeon HD4890 > PowerColor 4890 with the radeon overclocked to the same speeds as the powercolor (950//1100)

Any helps? :)

Right little help needed 6950 tf3.

Running good and looking nice but a few concerns:
1. Minor stuttering every now and then, can i get rid of it?
2. My FPS at 1080p ish are between 75-100, mem clock at 1300, core 850, temp not above 60c. Whilst playing the game the gpu usage is between 98-99% all the time........... is that normal?

Resolution: 2560 x 1440

Settings: All on 'High' apart from Textures which is at 'Ultra'. MSAA disabled, AA Post (FXAA) is set to 'High'. HBAO and motion blur disabled (not for FPS gain, but for preference). HBAO change did add some FPS...maybe 3 to 5 if I were to take a wild guess.

Graphics: GTX 480 SLI

FPS in MP: varies from low 30s at the most intense to mid 70s depending on map. I would say that average is 55 to 60 FPS so far. I have never noticed any major slowdowns in my 2 weeks of playing

Other Specs: i7 920 at 3.6 GHz, 6 GB RAM at 1444 MHz

what settings ?

i have tried every setting under sun at your res for best balance :p

this gets me 60fps avg

texture high
shad med
effects high
mesh high
terrain high
terrain d high
anti def = 2mssa or off (texture ultra instead )
anti post off
ansi x16
ambient off

that on avg gives me 60 fps or just over on every map . you may also notice its cleaner looking with ambient off and post off . this is a vital help in mp with hardly any effect graphics wise.

+1, Whilst playing BF3 last night I had switched out to Windows temporarily then went back to full screen and saw my crossfire drop to 35 FPS average (2560x1600 everything ultra), almost panicked then spotted GPU2 usage had dropped to 0%. Alt-tabbed again and back into BF3, shot up to 70 FPS average.
Was also running some Fraps benchmarks over 5 minute periods on various maps- found min was around 55, max was 140, and average around 70.

BTW, in case anyone is wondering, CPU usage was sat there at around 35% the whole time with both GPUs maxed out.

Ive been playing BF3 for a few days now. Fantastic game and im more than happy with the performance im getting from my 4870x2. All settings on high with no AA on. min FPS I get 40 upto 60FPS. Going to wait for prices to drop on cards a little more and treat myself to an Nvidia Card for Xmas and another 4 gig of ram.

My system i7 2600 stock, 4 gig 1333 stock MB stock. Standard build.

I seem to be getting great performance from my system considering it's nothing special.

Phenom ii 965 at 3.8GHz, 2.4 NB + HT
4Gb 1600MHz RAM
Ati 5770 1Gb X 2 crossfired at 960/1320

1920x1080
texture high
shad med
effects med
mesh high
terrain high
terrain d med
anti def = off
anti post high
ansi x16
ambient SSAO

Averaging around 80fps, jumps over the 110fps mark in empty areas, drops to around 60fps on a 64 player when the shizzle hits the fan!

Very pleased.

Thats really good results. My brother in law plays with a single 5770 with an i7 on ultra settings, not sure what his FPS are but hes bragging to me all the time lol

Cani get rid of the line that goes up the screen every now and then, its a little annoying!!
Settings are:
texture - ultra
shadow - med
effects - ultra
mesh - high
terrain q- high
terrain d - high
aa d - off
aa p - high
motion blur - off
anis filter 16x
ambient - off

Any tips would be welcomed!

55-60, enjoyable and more than enough to play for me. The low/med options not sure which i used one or the other tho as shown.

Specs in sig. gfx oc to 790/1000/1575 (think the last one is right)

Has anyone been getting random green/lime green flashes every so often? My temps are good with my OC'd 570 at 79C max and cpu at 3.8ghz at 51c max!

Not sure what's causing it :S

Also im using the latest nvidia drivers too.

common issue, seems to be game engine.
expect a patch to fix it.

Yep same here on my GTX460. Rig not overclocked and running stock but the gfx card is a For The Win version which is factory overclocked.

I had a similar issue with Crysis 2 ages ago, it was a lot more severe and turned out to be faulty system RAM. I know my new RAM is fine as Crysis 2 no longer has this problem.

Could it be related to lack of system or gfx card RAM? I dunno. As said, hopefully a patch will fix it.

EDIT: Ive got 4gb system RAM and I think the 460 has 1gig onboard.

Had the green flash/flicker issue when i first played the game using high profile ingame but when custom settings were used and turned a few things down like ambient occ and aa and texture decoration it seemed to have gone tho i still get it still but now its very rare. So i am going to guess its settings ingame based on using too much vram. I have a 1gb 460 btw.

Cheers guys, i'll await for a new patch then that will hopefully resolve this. Thought i was going mad.
