I've 'downloaded' Platinum Hide IP... You can just set it to a country, for instance Indonesia

I did a torrent search for Platinum Hide IP and it works a treat. Some of the free ones limit you to things like 20mins usage before it resets and supposedly BF3 may take 30-60mins to decrypt at the activation time.

On day 2 of my BF3 countdown, have just started installing BF Vietnam

Wouldn't really care if stats got reset, it's only a couple of days. Only gonna play SP until official UK launch anyway.

Can u not just unlock it and then set it to offline like in steam thus allowing you to play online without VPN ?

The VPN is just to get passed the release date check, after that we shouldn't need it. We will however need Battlelog to be up for co-op though as only single player doesn't use it, hopefully it comes up for the Korean launch in a few hours rather that the US one tomorrow.

this is what i dont understand why dice didn't have a worldwide release for the SP then a staggard release for the MP, makes more sense
