Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

Bought the game the other day and it's the first time playing Battlefield on my PC verses console. Of course I'm using the KBM as it's better for aiming once you get used to it but I've never used it seriously for FPS's, especially competitive gaming.

My question is this, what's the best game mode to get started with, or servers with less veterans on them? The first few games I joined I got crushed by vehicles and what not, I've played the previous BF's on the consoles so know the rules of the game, I just need time to get adjusted to my KBM for FPS.

Using my Naga MMO so I also need to get used to my specific keybinds, like NumPad1 = Steady Scope, NumPad2 = Toggle Crouch, NumPad3 = Prone, LALT (middle mouse) = Reload etc etc. So I'm still a bit hesitant and going against vets is making it harder. Started off going negative every game but it's slowly rising, at a 0.8 now but it's annoying as I'm used to 2.0+ lol :'(

If you're used to flying on consoles, use a controller on the PC? RE aim etc, play 32 player metro rush, as there are no vehicles and you should have plenty of opportunitys to practice your aim.

I don't want to use my controller on the PC, I want to get used to a KBM for FPS's as I never did, just MMO's and action games. Only time I can see myself using the controller is racing games.

I'll try some Metro later or tomorrow, thanks. So I'm guessing there are no servers without veterans on them then?
 
I would suggest playing through the single player campaign if you haven't already as this will give you a bit more co-ordination with KM. There are not really any real noob friendly servers (most are just a trap!) but what I have noticed is that most servers get stacked with high level players on one side, try swapping to that side to start you off.
 
Well. I was dubious about the Javelin at first, but if you've got people putting up laser designators it's amazing. I'm not quite sure how lasers get put on targets, I think the scout has a gun? Anyway, if a laser designator is up me as an engineer always gets a reticle on the HUD regardless of which weapon I'm using or if I'm in a vehicle. I can then lock on, fire away the Javelin and then wait for the hit.

IT WORKS ON JETS AND HELICOPTERS. Someone painted a jet, so for a laugh I let go a Javelin. It was flying for a good 10 seconds chasing the jet around the map and then BOOM, instant vehicle destroy and kill. If there's no objects in the way, the Javelin will 100% always hit a laser designated target and jets/helos go down in one hit every time.

I miss the dumb-fire anti-infantry of the RPGs and SMAW, but considering the Javelin can one-hit disable a tank I'm happy to sacrifice it. And seriously, letting go a rocket at a jet and watching it race across the entire map onto target is frikkin' satisfying.

Sniper perk called SOFLAM. Leaves a little machine that auto targets and can also be controlled by the player to target vehicles.
 
I just fired this up for the first time in a month or 2 and whenever I try to change the graphics options it crashes, but before it crashes sometime the screen goes pink or when I change individual options(shadow quality for example) I get weird artifacts on the screen:confused:


Anyone know what is going on? .....As I said, I haven't played it in a while so I hope it is some known issue!

Certainly as a workaround, but there is obviously an issue somewhere, I had problems with BC2 and various background programs so maybe there is something to do with that(possibly Radeon Pro, as I have not played BF3 since using it) but not BF3, but as I haven't played it in a while I wondered if a patch might have done something.

Anyway I will try the new drivers and see how it is.

Took out ten AT LEAST ten guys in the tunnel with M4A1, G18 and knife. Was hoping between four guys slashing the **** out of them as we all tried to reload.....Oh yeah and at least 7 guys in another run with M4A1, G18 and RPG.

Plus slightly earlier I got Gloves's tagss and he tried to C4 me......ahhhhhh sweet, sweeeeeeeet tags. I can still see the light as it faded from his in game eye :)

Heart is still pounding!!!! Feel sorry for myself that it wasn't recorded but WOW. Got called soooo many names they thought I was a hacker, hahahahaha. LOOK at my K/D, I'm reasonably ***** hahahahaha. SOO funny until Sensiiii switched sides just to TK me :(
