I'll be jumping on once I've got the little'un asleep.
I have to wait for her to be sound asleep now as me talking on TS seems to be enough to get her out of bed again :(

Ah i remember you luke. Glad youre going to be joining us for a round later. ;)

Hopefully be on in a bit.

Been playing as recon a bit the last few days, (a class ive neglected a lot). Having some great fun with the SKS, no scope or a x4. Great weapon. Shame that the recon accessories dont garner as many points as the other classes can.

Good video, he sums it up pretty well. I'm considering tweeting the video to zh1nt0 and asking him to watch it. I'm sure he hears it enough but every little helps

I'm not sure I'd agree with some of the things he's said, but overall he's right. I don't mind not knowing exactly when the next DLC is coming, but overall Dice just really aren't talking to or listening to the gamers, and letting individuals in the company say dates for XYZ and not correcting them is pretty irritating.

It would just be good to get an official word on something that the community wants sorted, whether that's patch dates, balancing, DLC dates or PB/Origin issues. At the minute they're definitely giving off a "we have your money, we don't care" vibe.

He raises some key points.

You may not mind that you don't have dates for stuff, but how much higher would you hold DICE in your regards if they had a patch schedule, say every 6 weeks, and they were regularly communicating and asking users what they wanted in the patches, telling us how many DLC releases there is going to be, and when.

Even "we have your money now FO" activation have mapped out the years releases via COD Elite. They release one pack every month, and have detailed what will be in each release (e.g. two new MP maps + new game mode) etc..

EA said they envied what activation had done with COD elite in a recent press conference call, so if they want to start doing what activision are doing, they need to start communicating with the players.

You may not mind, but that doesn't mean you wouldn't feel less undervalued or happier if you did have the information.

There are a couple of things i'd have high on my list that need attention:

Frag Rounds For USAS / MK31
Poor Netcode
MAV abuse (road kills and riding on top of buildings)
Uselessness of Stinger rounds (good pilots can just outrun them which is just stupid)
Fix the semi auto shotguns jamming when pressing fire repeatedly
fix the bug where stinger rounds kill the pilot inside the jet / chopper
reuce repair tool speed (currently the little bird is completely invulnerable with engineers on board repairing)
stupid bad luck deaths

so if they want to start doing what activision are doing, they need to start communicating with the players.

Oh I compeltely agree. What I really meant was that it isn't specifically a lack of communication on upcoming DLC that's irritating me, it's a lack of communication in general.

The most frustrating thing about this is that EA's attempts to compete with other big names is what has caused some of the major problems. Origin to compete with Steam? Generally just a pain in the arse. SP to compete with CoD? BF3 SP is a pile of rubbish. BF3 out before other big names of the year? Game has a lot of flaws which really should have been fixed pre-release.

It's just irritating, they're doing more harm than good and then they compound that by not talking to us properly.

didn't know this, I wondered why sometimes nothing happens when I get locked on to and have no flares to drop :)

but is there a way to tell if someones using a stinger on me and not something else?

and also I was in a game where someone was using tank guided missiles on me, i can only use them on other tanks how did he do it?

You can't tell what's locking on to you usually, and the guided tank shell can be used on anything which has been tagged by a SOFLAM.

Noticed allot of VRAM usage now. Previously it was around 1300-1400, now I'm maxing out at 1500 (have disabled aero).

My game has just crashed, screen went black, could still hear the noises. It's open but when I click it nothing happens. :(

Maybe on Xbox 360 you can out run a stinger lol but on PC no chance, you can pull an evasive maneuver and evade though.

thats what i was getting at.

I came across a very good jet pilot who was so cocky he didn't even bother with flares as he didn't need them.

The jet pilot on our team was poor and he was having a field day spawn killing the jet every time it appeared, and then went on to rape every vehicle he could find with the rocket pods, and just use the extinguisher to put out any fires and let the plane auto repair if he ever got hit.

We disabled him a couple of times, but every stinger he just evaded, and every time a SOFLAM got close to locking onto him he disappeared off into cover behind an obstacle or just out manoeuvred it because the SOFLAM can't turn as fast as the jets can. And if it did get a lock, he disappeared before the javelin could get a lock as well.

If you've got a skilled jet pilot, there is absolutely nothing the ground units can do to take him out, unless he gets cocky and does something stupid like fly really slow over a tank / mobile AA.

You can't tell what's locking on to you usually, and the guided tank shell can be used on anything which has been tagged by a SOFLAM.

This

SOFLAM makes the same noise as stingers, which in turn make the same noise as enemy jet fighter lock. Only difference is that you get no notification of the javelin being launched or when its due to hit. At least with stingers / enemy jet missiles you get a change in tone and know they are coming.

Agreed, EA were the ones telling us they were going to take on COD, they were the ones talking the smack talk about how COD was going to be down. Activision just said no comment. And now we have EA people in conference calls with the press saying they admire what Activison have done with COD elite, when they were the ones smack talking about battle log being a free service and how they weren't going to charge for the web experience etc.. despite the fact that COD elite isn't a paid for service and all the stats and stuff are free just like in BF, the only difference is the paid subscription service to the years DLC releases, that EA have now gone on record as saying they admire and want to do. Heck in that same press call they talked about DLC coming in february and tons of new releases, combined with the devs talking about "big" patches on twitter and stuff.

They are talking the talk, but now the development team has gotten smaller, they aint walking the walk anymore.

I think we all need to be patient for the developers to get the next patch just right.

Patchnotes NEED to be done though..

Its not about being patient. We're not demanding the patch now. We are saying that they need to be honest about what's coming and when. If they only have one more piece of DLC due this year in the summer, tell us. And then we can rightly kick off because they promised us twice as much DLC as in bad company 2.

Again like the guy in the video said they had great momentum, lots of marketing, lots of videos, lots of presence at the trade shows etc.. they built up a great hype which is why the pre order numbers were so impressive from them. They had lots of patches quickly, and the DLC for B2K came pretty soon after release. But as the guy said, they moved a lot of developers off BF3 and now its all gone quiet.
