Does anybody look at what perks the tank driver is using? If his using thermal optics then get the jav teams going. They should have left the heli tv in shot kill and make the laser missle on ifv and other vehicels make a bit more damage. The tank in seine crossing is a mistake, an ifv would have been better or none.
 
I agree about the IFV on Seine instead of a tank. It's possible to dominate the map with the tank in a way that's impossible on any other map.

Yes and no. Its all down to the team. They can dominate but a good anti -tank squad and a motar can keep them at bay.
The lack of a commander and voip for squads makes teamwork in a pub game hard.
 
Its equally easy for the enemy to wipe out a anti tank squad and snipe the guy on the mortar.

If there was only your squad and the tank on the map it would be easy. But it never is because the enemy team usually has people all over the place ready to shoot you in the back whilst your concentrating on taking the tank out.

Then of course they get lots of flags, you only have maybe one or two to spawn on, and the entire enemy team descends on them looking for easy kills and you've got no hope of getting a go at the tank without someone from his team shooting you.

Its a specific problem with the tank on Seine crossing. It just doesnt work.
 
I do my fair share of tankraping on seinne.

What u all forget is that there is always a way to get out as infantry on Seinne because of the structure. Also u can't race full speed trough every corner with a tank because of vehicles blowing up and the chance of landing in the river.

The map has open and compact sections so javelins and c4 and rpg's are all options. It's not exactly hard to take a tank out nowadays.

Sorry to say but it's just your team playing ****.

Also a lav or tank doesnt make much diff. Lav on bazaar can absolutely dominate also and has better maneuverability.

Does the tank proximity sensor detect infantry even when they are still, or is it the same deal as the recon sensor, i.e. have to move to show up on the map? Never used the proximity sensor myself, hardly ever use tanks at all, but I've been on the receiving end of tanks with them loads of times despite being hidden from view and not moving, after spotting one approaching.

Over-saturated colours, poor aliasing and the lighting seems to of taken a whack with the naff-stick? (Half Life engine lambert -1 anyone ? :D)Are the FXAA effects even showing on that screenshot? (They are post shader techniques and don't come out on traditional screenshot/video captures)


LOL the game as intended looks like like ****, one big blurry blue mess. The way I have it now it's pin sharp, the game has colour to it and no hit to performance coz there is no MSAA on so expect some jaggies here and there. You must have real poor eyesight if you think the default art direction of BF3 is anything but ****.

Have just seen a couple of level 100's in a game and they were saying they were so pro. I think they need to go outside for a bit.

Top be honest...it isnt exactly hard if you play it a lot...especially Metro where you can pick up more points faster than any other map.
 
What i think would be useful is to give the Assault class some counter to a tank so it's not just Engineers and Support with the right kit that can do something about the tank.

Perhaps a well placed grenade would rip a track off so the tank can't move until repaired, or give the assault class an option for a LAW missile instead of a defib. Make it do less damage that the SMAW and RPG, but at least it's something. Again, a hit on a track disables the tank for example, but a hit on armour does very little damage and to do any decent damage requires a rear, direct hit, but would require two hits to disable. It would at least give an assault squad facing a tank something to make the tank driver think about bugging out.

no u have to have class's otherwise everyone would be assault. use smoke blind it or a well timed m320 can finish a tank off
 
Agree. I think it's the emphasis on vehicle perks which has ruined vehicle combat. A tank with a high rank crew dominates, rather than compliments, the gameplay.

There's less emphasis on being a good shot with the tank - most maps are too small for proper long range tank battles. And besides, perks like guided shell make taking out other tanks and air vehicles too easy (ridiculous name as well - it's not a just 'guided', it's an out and out missile).

It's a real shame that there's often no getting away from tanks either. Gone are the times when you could take cover behind a burnt out car as a tank rumbled past. Instead, even though the driver hasn't seen you, his proximity sensor will light you up on the map. Then all he has to do it put a shell somewhere in the general vicinity and you're toast. It's why great maps like Seine Crossing, which make for genuinely good fire fights, are ruined when a tank rolls up - there's no getting away from it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for vehicles in BF, but they just don't seem to compliment the gameplay in BF3. I'd like to see tanks which are hard to take out without anti tank weapons, but which are also possible to get past with stealth. Perhaps make the main gun less effective against infantry (SABOT rather than HE rounds) which would make the co-axial MG and top mounted HMG more valuable. It would be nice to see a better damage model too, which would make tank battles more interesting.

Agree they need to remove the tank from seine. Its far too easy to rack up ridiculous scores using vehicles on those maps. The only people that will argue against it are the people that use them on those maps to good effect. I know, i was one. My opinion has changed though back from when i was only known as a tank whore. Nothing will be changed in this regard though sadly.
 
what i never can work out is all people have to do on maps where tanks lavs dominate on as soon as map starts everyone just go engineer stick mines down for one life :D

vehicles are screwed.

if vehicle starts raping do same again.


tried for ages to do my magical strafe jump and still couldnt do it :mad::p
might require people to try and do it with me while i record :D
 
Was on playing a few games lat night with friend and my ping hit 1081 at one point lol, it kept spiking up to high numbers every now and again, was weird as I was playing on Saturday and it never broke the 100ms mark :confused:

Leave that tank alone.

I think they should limit the amount of tanks on firestorm to 2.
