I just don't get it. I don't have premium so therefore I can't play this new content so why do I need to download 6gb? A few guns and uniforms can't take all that data. I only have one game on my ssd bf3 and its killing it for space I need a new one just because all these patches.

Servers are patched to accommodate the new DLC so I guess you need the client too. But yeah it would be nice to selectively download the bits you need rather than have it all and not use it.

My 60gb sssd is now under 8gb free with only win 8 pro and bf3 installed...ea must have shares in HDD manufacturers.l

Pretty sure this is getting evicted from SSD as I got no space to install arma. Cast this bunnyhopping bunkum into the abyss ie. the external drive

I don't think that was End Game tbh, the BF3 folder is only 30.1GB, so the patch replaced older patches and there is no Xpack5 folder in the Update folder.

Expect another large download in a week

Before you do anything rash I believe you could just delete or migrate the xpack2, xpack3, xpack4, and soon to be xpack5?

All you need is the patch to play on Vanilla servers, the xpack1 is B2k. Should solve your problem and free up about 10GB+ of space

i can't believe my BF3 folder is now 31gig... that is stupid, i purchased a 2nd M4 SSD for origin and steam, as was sick of juggling on my primary ssd. Surly every time a update comes they could overwrite/delete certain files, its nuts for the folder to keep growing and growing!

They did, only 2GB is added to the total size from before I believe.

the xpacks take up about 10GB+ the Patch folder is 6GB and the game itself is 10GB+

Agreed, i haven't played BF3 in months, despite being a Premium member and having all the DLC.... I lost interest after the CC DLC and got distracted by other games, Skyrim being one.

But that does make me want to play it again.
